Background / History

At its height, the Sword Tower was the strongest sect in Purgatory, with five Sword Gods active at once. Their Sword Dao legacies and portions of their divine power were imprinted into the tower before they departed Purgatory, making it both a repository of sword arts and a weapon of exceptional destructive power 356 581.

After losing its Sword Gods, the sect was forced down from the First Realm under the rule that only factions with a true god could remain there. It stood above Heaven-Opening Continent in the Second Realm, linked to the surrounding sword-like peaks and formations 551 585.

Pang Jian entered the tower to select a weapon as Li Zhaotian’s personal disciple. He descended through its nine floors and was chosen by the sealed Source Demon Sword, despite the concerns of the tower’s elders and sword souls 349 350 351.

Li Zhaotian later activated the tower during his assault on Dragon Cave to rescue Pang Lin and avenge Mu Aichuan. Sword light from the tower imprisoned nearly a hundred dragons and forced Long Xiao to release Pang Lin, but the subsequent battle depleted much of the tower’s accumulated sword power 580 581.

After Pang Jian and Li Zhaotian both became Sword Gods, Sword Tower regained the right to return to its ancestral land in West Soil of the First Realm 607 813.

Appearance

Sword Tower is an immense, inverted nine-story pavilion suspended in the air, shaped like a colossal Spirit Sword with its point facing downward. Its structure constantly emits sharp Sword Intent and resonates with nearby mountains and rivers to form a vast defensive array 349.

• Nine descending floors, with the ninth floor at the broadest upper end and the first floor at the narrowest lower end 350.
• When dormant, it resembles a floating pagoda; when activated, it expands and releases innumerable sword gleams 580.
• Ancient sword marks are branded into its walls and can shine with divine radiance during battle 581.
• Its emblem is depicted as a downward-pointing, nine-segmented sword pavilion, with each segment representing a floor 76.

Sword Tower’s sentient weapons rely on spirituality and sword souls, leaving them vulnerable to soul-targeting suppression.

• Mu Wentao’s Netherworld Hall dimmed many sword souls and weakened the Divine and Holy Swords within the tower 581.
• Long Xiao deliberately endured the tower’s attacks to exhaust its accumulation of sword power built over tens of thousands of years 581.
