According to records in certain mage spellbooks, the Moon Empire had been a nation devoted to magic, and thus gave birth to a dazzling array of magical professions.

Just as recorded in To His Highness Anute—Curtis Truth, the book he had obtained from the ghost ship, the triangular symbol surrounding the Eye of Truth was associated with professions such as alchemists, vampires, necromancers, mages, druids, witches, warlocks, seers, succubi, and shamans.

All those professions had vanished into the river of history. Only mages continued to endure.

Based on the information Liszt had gathered and summarized, liches had originated from the witches of the Moon Empire. Witches were roughly mages who studied soul-related techniques. An ancient witch had developed phylactery technology capable of housing the soul, transforming himself into an undying lich.

After that, liches had enjoyed a period of flourishing development.

Of course, true immortality was more or less nonexistent—there were no traces of liches left in this age.
