Before Konoha's founding, Hashirama met the Katsuyu Sage, who foretold that he would establish a village capable of bringing peace. He later founded Konoha and became its First Hokage. 37 48

His reputation is so overwhelming that Takigakure's elders send Toji and Kakuzu on an assassination mission against him, despite the mission being viewed as effectively impossible. Toji considers even approaching Hashirama directly to be a fatal risk. 1 3

When Toji arrives in Konoha, Hashirama recruits him on the strength of his medical reputation and shared stated ideals. He gives Toji the Senju Clan's Mystical Palm Technique and a commercial property suitable for opening a clinic, accepting him with little suspicion. 3
