Overview

The Far North is a vast, eternally frozen region defined by extreme cold, ancient ice fields, snow-covered mountains, and powerful ice-attribute soul beasts. Its core territory is ruled by Snow Emperor, Ice Emperor, and Xiao Bai, whose authority is recognized by the region’s inhabitants. 1 27 28

The region is sufficiently hostile that even Xue Chen—raised there and normally unaffected by its cold—begins to feel chilled within deeper ice crevasses and the Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice Cave. 16

Geography

Ice Plains

The Far North Ice Plains are vast, snow-covered expanses of ten-thousand-year permafrost. The terrain can be dangerous even without hostile soul beasts: an avalanche in the Ice Rift Valley sweeps Xue Chen into a deep abyssal crevasse. 13 14 15

During the first lightning tribulation, the ice plains are illuminated by blue-white and purple-gold lightning, while soul beasts across the region flee in panic. 4

Ice Rift Valley and Abyssal Crevasse

• The Ice Rift Valley is the hunting ground where Xue Chen obtains his first soul ring from a Thunder Wing Dragon Lizard. 13 14

The Ice Crystal Palace is the principal seat of Far North authority and Snow Emperor’s residence. Originally constructed from ten-thousand-year profound ice, it serves as the site of Xue Chen’s martial soul awakening and many major political confrontations. 1 3 28

• The first heavenly tribulation converges directly above the palace after initially enveloping the entire Far North. 4

Heavenly Lightning Tribulation

Immediately after Xue Chen awakens his martial souls, a massive abnormal thunderstorm blankets the Far North. The event terrifies soul beasts throughout the region and eventually condenses over the Ice Crystal Palace. 2 4

• Snow Emperor and Ice Emperor cannot locate any conventional source or tribulation target. 4
