Background / History

Izuna is the younger brother of Uchiha Madara and son of Uchiha Tajima. During the Senju–Uchiha conflict, he regarded Senju Tobirama as a rival and mortal enemy, while Madara was fiercely protective of him. 46 47

He first met Senju Kyogawa at the Naka River while demonstrating Fire Style. Initially aloof and mocking, Izuna accepted Kyogawa’s admiration and formed a friendship with him through their encounters by the river. 7 Their bond was severely shaken when Izuna learned that “Jingchuan” was actually a Senju, but he ultimately concluded that Kyogawa had not deliberately deceived him. 46 77

Black Zetsu exploited Izuna’s attachment to Kyogawa by arranging attacks on Uchiha shinobi and directing suspicion toward the Senju and the Land of Fire’s daimyō. The resulting emotional turmoil pushed Izuna’s Sharingan to three tomoe. 77 He later learned through Sharingan hypnosis that Kiyosu Kasugayama and Fujiwara Taira had orchestrated the plot rather than Kyogawa. 80

After surviving a near-fatal battle against the Kaguya Clan, Izuna fought alongside Kyogawa and Tobirama despite their clans’ hostility. His experiences with Black Zetsu led him to consider a Senju–Uchiha alliance, though he remained wary of the century of hatred between both clans. 83 84 110 112

Personality

Izuna is proud, competitive, and outwardly tsundere. He initially rebuffs Kyogawa’s requests for instruction and struggles to apologize after arguments, but repeatedly shows that he cannot easily refuse someone he considers important. 7 161 162

His distrust of the Senju stems from the clans’ history and his hostility toward Tobirama. Even so, he is capable of revising his judgment when presented with evidence, as shown when he discovers the Uchiha attacks were not Kyogawa’s doing. 46 77 80

He is analytical under pressure: while severely wounded and surrounded by Kaguya shinobi, he continued assessing the wider plot against the Senju and Uchiha. 83 He also suffers from self-doubt when comparing himself to Kyogawa’s immediate use of Susanoo, despite being recognized as a gifted Uchiha. 87 110
