Before long, the two arrived in front of a quaint shop.
It was small and dilapidated.
The gold lettering on the sign above the door had peeled away.
It read:
Ollivander: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C.
That was it, no mistake!
If you were buying a wand in Diagon Alley, this was the place to be.
Ollivander, the finest wandmaker in all of Britain.
The wands of most Hogwarts students came from his hands.
Standing before such a famous shop, Devero felt quite a surge of excitement.
He followed Snape inside.
[Secret Realm—Diagon Alley Exploration Progress: 35.1%]
Devero raised an eyebrow.
This was the most generous exploration progress he had received from any shop in Diagon Alley so far.
It seemed the information density here was quite high!
Just as they stepped inside, a series of tinkling bells rang out from somewhere behind the shop.
The shop was very small.
Aside from a single bench, there was nothing else.
Snape told Devero to sit on the bench and wait, while he remained standing.
Devero looked around with curiosity.
The long, narrow cardboard boxes were stacked so high they nearly touched the ceiling.
If Snape weren't standing right there, he definitely would have gone over to take a look.
Suddenly, there was a sound of wood clattering and wheels turning.
An old man with eyes like coins appeared before them.
"Good morning, gentlemen."
His voice was very soft.
"Good morning, Mr. Ollivander."
Devero stood up from the bench and said.
[Name: Garrick Ollivander]
[Age: 61]
[Spell Library: ...]
[Traits: Magic Ability (Blue), Born Wandmaker (Gold)]
[Born Wandmaker (Gold): Born to craft wands, possessing an innate lineage for wandmaking; will craft lifelong companions for countless wizards.]
Devero was not at all surprised that Ollivander possessed a gold trait.
After all, his family had been passing down the craft of wandmaking for generations.
In the original story, almost every Hogwarts student's wand was made by him.
He was truly remarkable.
Without a moment's hesitation, Devero wanted to load both of his traits!
Unfortunately, however, he could only copy one blue-tier trait.
The golden-tier trait was still in its cooldown period.
But when Ollivander appeared before Devero, Devero suddenly had a feeling.
It was as if he could sense countless voices, brimming with spiritual power, whispering throughout the entire room.
"Hmm, a new face. Perhaps no one from your family has ever purchased a wand from me?"
Before Devero could listen carefully, Ollivander walked up to the two of them.
Those large eyes stared intently at Devero, not blinking even once.
It made Devero feel uneasy.
"His name is Devero Alexander. His mother is French and his father is Chinese, so he hasn't bought a wand here before."
Snape spoke in a low, deep voice.
Ollivander looked up and immediately recognized Snape.
"Severus! Severus Snape! The day I sold you your wand feels like it was only yesterday. Birch Wood, thirteen and a half inches long, correct?"
"Yes."
Snape maintained his gloomy tone.
It was as if seeing Ollivander made him uncomfortable.
Of course, Devero guessed that he wouldn't be comfortable seeing anyone.
"Hmm, throughout Europe, birch twigs are used to drive away evil spirits, and in ceremonies, birch wands are also used to banish ancient ghosts. It possesses both a sacred and beautiful temperament."
Ollivander acted as if he didn't see Snape's expression and began to educate Devero on some knowledge about Birch Wood.
Snape's face grew even darker.
He turned around, pushed open the shop door, and walked out.
Devero stood by the bench, at a loss for what to do.
After a long-winded speech, Ollivander smiled slightly.
"I have always believed that everyone's qualities are reflected in the wand they choose—oh, of course, the wand chooses the wizard."
He fixed his gaze on Devero.
"Very well, Mr. Alexander, which hand do you generally use?"
As he spoke, several measuring tapes floated up.
"My right hand," Devero said.
"Good, don't be afraid, just cooperate with them."
Several measuring tapes quickly began measuring Devero's entire body.
During this process, Ollivander nodded frequently, constantly scribbling something in a small notebook.
Then, he turned and walked into the piles of paper boxes.
After rummaging around for a bit, he took out a box.
He pulled out a wand and handed it to Devero.
"Here, this wand should suit you. Oak and Dragon Heartstring, eleven inches, very resilient."
Devero had an intuition the moment he saw it.
He felt as though this wand was too heavy for him.
He took it and gave it a casual wave.
Immediately, a spark shot out.
It shattered a chandelier on the ceiling into pieces.
Devero felt his entire body become uncoordinated in an instant.
It was as if the right side of his body had grown significantly heavier.
"No, no, no, very powerful, but unbalanced!"
Ollivander snatched the wand back.
He pulled a new wand from a pile of boxes once more.
"Try this one, Cherry Wood and Water Serpent Nerve, eight and a quarter inches, much more flexible."
Devero hadn't even truly taken it into his hand yet.
He already felt that this wand was perhaps a bit too light.
Ollivander seemed to think the same.
Before Devero could even touch it, he took it away.
After trying several wands in a row, none of them were a match.
"No, no, why would I think that..., truly a picky customer."
Muttering to himself, Ollivander walked straight to the very back of the shop this time.
"What... feeling he is too exceptional, hiss, perhaps only this one will suit you, the French..., the Chinese..."
As he spoke, he took out an antique wooden box.
He pulled a wand from within.
The surface of the wood displayed a fine and uniform grain, carrying a faint purple luster.
The overall shape of the wand was fluid and elegant, with the handle slightly thickened for a better grip.
When Devero saw it, he felt a sense of attraction.
Although he had never received any education in wand-making, at this moment, he simply felt that this wand was made for him.
"Rosewood. Originally, I intended to pair it with Unicorn Hair, but I didn't expect it to become a wand on its own. It is truly very peculiar. Although it is very picky, I think it might unexpectedly suit you."
Devero took it.
He immediately felt as if this wand were an extension of his own body!
It was completely different from the previous wands that had brought him such a severe sense of disharmony.
At this moment, he even felt that while holding this wand, his entire person had become much lighter.
It was as if his body had become stronger.
With a casual wave, the entire shop seemed to tremble slightly.
A thought suddenly occurred to Devero.
"Reparo!"
Devero cast the first spell of his life toward the glass shards on the floor.
Instantly, the glass shards that had just been scattered across the shop floor flew into the air.
They quickly fit together, transforming back into the chandelier that had just been hanging from the ceiling.
This astonishing scene stunned Ollivander.
Even a few passersby who had just walked past the shop entrance stopped to watch.
After all, for a child who looked like he had just turned eleven to be able to cast such a perfect Scourgify so smoothly was truly an eye-opener!
"Oh, Merlin's beard! What have I seen! This wand only acknowledges a master with extreme talent, and only when they are so in several fields will it be willing to serve. It seems, Mr. Alexander, that your future has been recognized by the wand."
After his initial shock, Ollivander regained his composure and said to Devero.
Devero was also very shocked at this moment.
Truth be told, this wand certainly knew quality when it saw it.
Devero was now a dual-threat future star of the magical world: a Magic Prodigy and a Potion Prodigy.
It was only natural that this wand would be a perfect match.
However, Devero's face was still filled with irrepressible excitement.
After all, this was his first time casting this spell.
Furthermore, the system panel indicated that he was only at the introductory level for this spell.
Could it be that this wand provided him with an additional bonus?
One that could increase his success rate for casting spells?
Thinking of this, he itched to open his spell textbook immediately.
He wanted to try every single spell in it.
But he restrained himself; now was not the time.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Ollivander, I may have made a mess of your shop. May I ask, um, how much this wand costs..."
Suppressing his excitement, Devero finally noticed that Professor Snape was no longer standing outside the shop.
How was he supposed to pay then?
No way. He couldn't have just picked out his ideal wand only to have to slink out and find Professor Snape to pay for it.
Devero felt that would be far too embarrassing.
Just as he was at a loss for what to do, Ollivander smiled and said.
"It's quite alright, Mr. Alexander. Professor Snape has already paid for it. I saw him head off to the left; you can go find him that way."
