The first round of selections began, and just as Wizet had expected, this part was very easy.
Whether hovering, weaving, or even flying upside down, he handled every kind of flying maneuver with ease.
When he returned to the ground, Arsenal said with a smile, "This is the first time I've ever seen a first-year fly a Shooting Star that well!"
"This is Ravenclaw's most hopeful year!" He was both excited and thrilled. "Have you thought about which position you want?"
Wizet suddenly remembered the new ability he had obtained in the library. Perhaps there was a position that suited him very well. "Would Chaser work?"
"No problem!" Arsenal said with a smile. "No matter what, I'll make you a Chaser!"
As the team captain, Arsenal naturally yearned to win the championship.
Unfortunately, the team had lost too much talent over the years, which had led to Ravenclaw's poor results. They were always stuck in fourth place.
There were only four teams in the Hogwarts Quidditch Cup. Compared with last place, fourth place merely sounded a little nicer.
Ravenclaw prided itself on using the colors of the sky and the eagle, yet in Quidditch it had always been at the bottom. It really was hard to justify.
Wizet's appearance allowed Arsenal, who was about to graduate, to see hope of winning the championship.
With excitement in his heart, Arsenal found Roger. "Did you find a suitable Chaser?"
"Jeremy Stretton." Roger pulled over a third-year student. "His reactions and accuracy are both decent. With some training, he'll have no problem playing!"
"But we need two Chasers, and for now there aren't any more suitable candidates. We can only go through the shortlist again and at least get the team filled out."
"Then come meet Wizet!" Arsenal unconsciously raised his voice. "The genius Professor Flitwick recommended! His flying skills are flawless!"
"Really?" Roger was a little surprised. "Wizet... I have some impression of him. He's a first-year, right?"
Arsenal was as excited as if he had won the lottery jackpot. "I've already taken him through the first round of screening. He even managed upside-down flying into a dive. Whether it's balance or speed, he's flawless!"
Roger's eyes lit up. "Then I'll add his name straight to the list!"
Arsenal nodded. "Bring both the Quaffle and the Bludgers. Let everyone get familiar with things and do a short training session."
Mounting the Flying Broomstick used by the team for matches, Wizet followed everyone up into the air.
Arsenal arrived in front of the goalposts. "Jeremy and Duncan, you two are responsible for stealing the Quaffle from Wizet."
"Cho, you and Jensen will be one group. Work with Roger to hit the Bludgers. The target is Wizet."
Cho Chang frowned slightly and raised her hand to ask, "May I ask... why are all the targets Wizet?"
"Of course it's because I have confidence in him," Arsenal said with a smile. "Our tactics will be built around him in the future. Letting everyone understand the situation now means we won't need to explain too much during official training next week."
"Bludgers are an important threat on the pitch. This training session is also a test for you. It'll expose your weaknesses, and I'll use this session to set your training tasks."
Once everyone was ready, they immediately scattered.
With Wizet at the center, they kept a distance of more than ten meters from one another.
Roger pulled open the box containing the Bludgers. The two Bludgers shot out like cannonballs, whistling as they drew arcs through the air and began attacking the players on the field.
Arsenal threw out the Quaffle. "Wizet! Catch!"
Wizet, who was hovering in the starting area, caught the Quaffle and shot out like an arrow.
Roger moved quickly through the air, successfully intercepted one Bludger, and swung his bat, knocking it away hard.
The Bludger let out a huge crack as it tore through the air, dragging a pitch-black arc behind it. In the blink of an eye, it reached Wizet, with less than two meters between the person and the ball.
Seeing this, Cho Chang nervously tightened her grip on her Flying Broomstick.
The newly recruited players all reacted in much the same way. They had not expected Roger to actually go for real, without holding back at all.
"Isn't that a bit too harsh..." Roger muttered, then continued searching for the other Bludger.
Sitting in the stands, Professor Flitwick clenched his wand. The moment Wizet fell off his Flying Broomstick, he would immediately act to help.
Professor McGonagall, sitting beside him, adjusted her glasses, but her fingers stayed pinched on the frame and did not let go. Her eyes were fixed tightly on Wizet up above.
Wood narrowed his eyes and unconsciously clenched both fists. "At such a short distance! An ordinary person wouldn't have time to react, would they? Roger's clearly a Chaser, but he actually hit that Bludger so viciously!"
Arsenal held his breath, staring unblinkingly at that Bludger.
Wizet had heard the Bludger's whistle and had long since prepared himself mentally.
When he saw the Bludger appear in front of him, he did not panic in the slightest. Instead, he felt a different kind of thrill, which made him keep accelerating.
The Flying Broomstick used for matches was extremely good. Whether in acceleration or stability, it far surpassed the Shooting Star.
He had no intention of slowing down. He bent down, pinned the Quaffle under his elbow, pressed his chest against the handle, and dodged the Bludger by an extremely narrow margin.
Wizet's speed was astonishing. Like a swift, he swept across the sky, leaving an afterimage behind.
Then he went from extreme motion to extreme stillness, appearing in front of Arsenal in the blink of an eye, again less than three meters away.
Ancient Magic: Throwing Mastery.
He smashed the Quaffle out with force. Empowered by ancient magic, the Quaffle let out a soft whistle.
Arsenal subconsciously wanted to catch it, but the Quaffle drew a bright red afterimage and flew straight through the hoop.
Less than thirty seconds had passed since the throw-in, yet Wizet had actually scored a goal. This was something most of the people present had not expected.
Cho Chang broke into a brilliant smile and shouted, "Ten points for Wizet!"
"Professor McGonagall, I don't even know how to thank you." Professor Flitwick beamed. "I'll definitely help you take the cup back from Professor Snape!"
"It's still too early to say that. Our Potter isn't bad either." Professor McGonagall forced out a smile. "You'll see once the match starts... In any case, as long as we can take the cup back!"
Wood looked at the clipboard, not knowing what he should write for a moment.
When someone's speed was so fast it defied imagination, coming up with tactics meant pushing past imagination itself.
In the end, he wrote this with a wry smile: Thank goodness Wizet isn't a Seeker. Otherwise, it's hard to imagine how little time he'd need to end the match.
Roger flew up in front of the goalposts and complained with a grin, "Arsenal, don't go easy on me! I'm working this hard, so why aren't you putting up any resistance?"
"It's really hard to react at such a short distance!" Arsenal said with a bitter smile. "Five more minutes! And you all need to put your hearts into it too. Don't let Roger do all the work by himself!"
The training session had practically turned into Wizet's one-man show.
Although they hadn't been able to figure out the other players' weaknesses, just as Arsenal had said, they had all gained confidence in Wizet.
If all else failed, once half a minute had passed after the match began, they could simply choose to believe in Wizet.
