Ron's words served as a reminder to Harry. Harry stepped forward a few paces, wanting to hear whether Snape's voice could be heard as well.
Snape had indeed said something, but Harry had not caught it in time. He only heard Snape end with "Gryffindor," and the phrasing sounded incredibly familiar to him.
"Whirling Wind Surge!"
Harry did clearly hear Snape's next words. It was the incantation for the Whirling Wind Surge spell.
After the incantation, a vortex appeared above the smoke and dust. The haze rapidly gathered toward it, forming a long plume that flew out of the Great Hall.
With the smoke gone, Harry was able to see what was happening at the teachers' table.
Snape had not suffered the slightest injury. His black robes remained as black as ever, and there was not a trace of soot on his face or hair.
In stark contrast to Snape was the utterly disheveled Karkaroff. He had been blasted to the floor and could barely prop himself against the wall.
His robes had been blown to tatters, and his face was covered in ash. His carefully groomed goatee had been blown away for the most part, leaving only a small tuft clinging to his chin.
Yet the strange thing was that the only things affected by the Magic Fireworks were Karkaroff and his chair.
The teachers' table in front of Karkaroff seemed to have been protected by magic beforehand. It had not been damaged by the Magic Fireworks, and its surface bore no sign of damage at all.
"I take back what I said..." Ron looked at Karkaroff's miserable state and sighed ruefully. "Looks like their relationship is pretty bad."
"I'd better run!" Seamus Finnigan threw out those words, not even pausing to mourn the Magic Fireworks he had
