Background / History
Tang Zhen leads the Clear Sky Sect during a period of decline following Tang Chen's disappearance. He is described as the sect's only remaining Titled Douluo, but his poor health leaves the sect vulnerable to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's challenge for the title of the world's number one sect. When the elders loudly demand action, Tang Zhen asks who is willing to attend—silencing them when none volunteer—before deciding that he and Tang Xiao will travel to Spirit Hall. 10
At Spirit City, he recognizes the overwhelming gap between Clear Sky Sect and Spirit Hall. He detects that Spirit Hall has concealed additional Titled Douluo among the gathering and warns Tang Xiao that the organization likely possesses far more high-level experts than the major sects had anticipated. 18 22
Personality
Tang Zhen is restrained, politically aware, and cautious in matters concerning Spirit Hall. He does not allow his sect's anger or fear of decline to dictate reckless action, repeatedly recognizing that provoking Spirit Hall could bring disaster upon Clear Sky Sect. 19 21 22
He values Tang Xiao's composure and judgment over Tang Hao's greater natural talent. Tang Zhen explicitly considers Tang Xiao better suited to lead the sect because of his steadiness and meticulous thinking. 21
- He suppresses Tang Xiao's impulse to target Qian Renxue, judging that even a successful assassination would leave Clear Sky Sect unable to survive Spirit Hall's retaliation. 19
- He publicly disciplines Tang Hao when Tang Hao insults Qian Xunji, then invokes Tang Chen's relationship with Qian Daoliu to de-escalate the confrontation. 23
- He is capable of strategic negotiation, attempting to arrange a three-versus-three format for the sect tournament before accepting Qian Xunji's revised arena rules. 37
