Wind Spirit first approached He Sheng—then using the identity Xiang Yue—after determining that he likely came from a Rogue Cultivator background. He spoke at length about the disadvantaged position of Rogue Cultivators against sects and cultivation clans, then invited He Sheng to join the Southern Mountain Society with a silver gathering token. 38

He became He Sheng's primary source of information on modern cultivation concepts unfamiliar to ancient-path cultivators, including Divine Abilities, Attributes, the Breath-Absorbing Divine Way, cultivation-art grades, and fate testing. 46 48 55

At the Southern Mountain Society's pre-auction gathering, Wind Spirit relied on He Sheng's vote to secure the exclusive right to bid on the Golden Resonance Jade Branch, defeating Jin Zhaofa by three votes to two. 48 He later contributed the largest amount to the society's mutual-aid fund, but was ultimately unable to compete when the Jade Branch sold for one million spirit stones. 50 70

After the auction loss, Wind Spirit became visibly more aged and his outlook changed. He later celebrated the birth of a son, receiving He Sheng as a guest when the child was three months old. 80 99 101

Wind Spirit is a middle-aged cultivator who presents himself with the polished bearing of a courteous Daoist. 38

He recruited He Sheng because an additional Foundation Establishment Late Stage member could influence Southern Mountain Society votes, and he actively sought support for his desired auction item. 45 48 He is well informed about Rogue Cultivator affairs, commercial channels, and cultivation-world customs, making him a useful guide to newcomers. 46 47 80

Wind Spirit is deeply conscious of the limits imposed by age and resources. His failure to obtain the Golden Resonance Jade Branch left him dispirited because he viewed it as a chance to advance toward the Golden Core stage. 70
