Government and Succession
Dai Dynasty Rule
The old Star Luo Empire was highly centralized: the emperor held decisive authority, and officials did not challenge imperial decisions. Dai Tianfeng’s personal welcome for Grace Hall was unprecedented, yet no official dared question it because the reigning emperor effectively defined protocol. 283 306
- The empire’s princes competed directly for succession; the eventual victor became heir without the reigning emperor’s personal preference being the formal criterion. 306
- The system became brutal enough that imperial heirs were expected to kill or cripple their own brothers, with no opportunity to withdraw. 306
- Successive Dai emperors married women of the Zhu Clan, preserving access to the Hell White Tiger Martial Soul Fusion Skill. Emperors did not take concubines so the emperor-empress partnership would not be compromised. 311
- Military officers rotated between regional legions to prevent the formation of private armies. 480
- Centralization gave the empire strong deterrence while its emperor remained powerful, limiting official corruption and collusion with evil soul masters. 528

History
Clear Sky Sect and Grace Hall Negotiations
The Clear Sky Sect had previously supported the Star Luo Empire and had originally been located within Star Luo territory near the Heaven Dou border. Its withdrawal from worldly affairs ended that support in practice. 282 283
When rumors spread concerning the Clear Sky Sect, Dai Tianfeng dispatched investigators before issuing further orders: Xu Siwei, a Titled Douluo of the Star Crown Clan, accompanied by two Soul Douluo. Mo Lin intercepted and intimidated the delegation, forcing Xu Siwei to negotiate. 283
Mo Lin offered the Star Luo Empire the deaths of Ge Long and one hundred thousand Heaven Dou soldiers or soul masters in return for territory. The empire agreed to admit Grace Hall, grant it a marquis title and Gengxin City, and verify the offered proof before completing the exchange. 284 303
Dai Tianfeng personally received Mo Lin, Yu Yuanzhen, and Mo Jia outside Star Luo City—an unprecedented gesture by a Star Luo emperor. He sought to secure Grace Hall’s loyalty, recognizing that the faction’s support could make eventual continental unification possible. 306
Alliance with Grace Hall
The agreement allowed Grace Hall to establish itself in Gengxin City, making the two powers allies, though Dai Tianfeng considered the new faction a possible threat as well. 347 348
Dai Tianfeng assigned Dai Weisi and Dai Mubai to win Grace Hall’s support. Success in the task could strengthen either prince’s claim to the crown-prince position. 348
- Dai Weisi — Eldest prince; secretly loyal to Mo Lin and later the only surviving known Dai imperial bloodline. 347 467 508
- Dai Mubai — Prince and Dai Weisi’s succession rival; more gifted as a Soul Master, but regarded by Dai Tianfeng as politically less capable. 347
- Grace Hall — Allied faction admitted into Gengxin City; later became the empire’s governing body. 303 550 551
Star Crown Clan Rebellion
The Star Crown Clan, represented by Xu Siwei, became dissatisfied with its position beneath the Dai family and secretly explored rebellion with Mo Lin. 404
Its planned coup consisted of three stages:
- Ally with members of the Dai imperial family.
- Spread scandals to weaken the dynasty’s popular support.
- Assassinate the Dai family and seize control of the empire. 447
The clan also intended to promise greater devolved authority to lower- and middle-ranking officials, whose limited power under the centralized regime made them vulnerable to defection. 447
The rebellion began when Star Crown Clan forces entered Star Luo City through the bribed South Gate guards. They intended to seize the palace before dawn, conceal news of the coup, and use a false Dai Tianfeng to announce an apparently lawful abdication. 467
Dai Weisi, acting as Mo Lin’s pawn, warned the imperial family as the attack began. Despite this intervention, Grace Hall delayed reinforcements and deployed Ice Empress and Sky Dream Ice Silkworm to eliminate Dai Tianfeng and Dai Mubai. 467 468 470
The imperial palace was destroyed in the ensuing battle. Dai Tianfeng, Dai Mubai, and a hidden Title Douluo-level defender were killed; Dai Weisi escaped to Gengxin City, while the Star Crown Clan suffered crippling losses and retreated. The empire thereafter existed largely in name only. 474 475
Restoration under Dai Weisi
Grace Hall and Spirit Hall concealed Dai Weisi’s survival, leaving most of the continent to believe that the Dai family had died out and the Star Luo Empire had fallen. 508
Qian Renxue used Dai Weisi’s surviving imperial legitimacy to pursue an “emperor to command the lords” strategy. In Dai Weisi’s name, Grace Hall ordered separatist forces across the former empire to submit. 508 512
When the separatists refused, Grace Hall launched a rapid campaign:
| Operation | Outcome |
|---|---|
| Mixed magical-artifact force of about 20,000 troops attacks a major city | Captured the city in fifteen minutes without losses. 512 |
| Three 50,000-man armies led by Mo Wen, Mo Jia, and Yu Yuanzhen strike nearby major cities | Captured three additional major cities within half a day. 512 |
| Wider campaign | Four major cities were seized in less than a week. 512 |
Abdication and New Order
After Grace Hall took control of the former Star Luo lands and improved local conditions, Dai Weisi declared that his old injuries prevented him from ruling and that he had no remaining princes or blood relatives. He abdicated the throne directly to Grace Hall. 550
The reformed state subsequently absorbed the kingdoms and duchies formerly subordinate to the old Star Luo Empire. Their rulers sought annexation voluntarily after farmers migrated toward the new empire, leaving neighboring states unable to sustain agricultural production or even secure basic food supplies. 551
Territory and Society
- Star Luo City — Imperial capital and site of the Star Crown Clan’s coup attempt. 306 467
- Gengxin City — Granted to Grace Hall under the original agreement; became its principal base within Star Luo territory. 303 347
- Former Star Luo lands — Came under Grace Hall’s control with little resistance and became notably more stable than neighboring regions. 550
- Areas around Star Luo City were portrayed as prosperous, with numerous villages, fields, pastures, and a visibly higher quality of life than comparable Heaven Dou regions. 305
- Under Grace Hall’s administration, the former empire’s population remained productive and compliant; tax revenue was reportedly twenty to thirty percent higher than before. 550
Military and Strategic Assets
Hell White Tiger
The Dai imperial family and Zhu Clan possessed the Hell White Tiger Martial Soul Fusion Skill, a major source of the dynasty’s military deterrence. 311 467
- The fusion skill could allow Star Luo forces to fight opponents above their normal rank. 307
- Dai Tianfeng used Hell White Tiger during the palace battle against the Star Crown Clan. 467
- The imperial family maintained concealed defenses against possible decapitation strikes. 404
White Tiger Blood
The Star Luo imperial treasury contained White Tiger Blood, a secret treasure preserved since the empire’s founding. 481
- A sufficiently powerful Dai family member could use it to evolve both body and martial soul. 481
- It granted a temporary surge in combat strength. 481
- Dai Tianfeng’s strength reportedly rose beyond that of a Rank 95 Titled Douluo after using it. 481
Relationships
- Dai Imperial Family — Founding and former ruling house; the dynasty ended when Dai Weisi abdicated to Grace Hall. 550
- Zhu Clan — Imperial consort clan; its women traditionally married Dai emperors to enable Hell White Tiger. 311
- Grace Hall — Initially an allied faction granted Gengxin City; later the empire’s ruling body. 303 551
- Star Crown Clan — Formerly connected to the empire through Dai Tianfeng; attempted to overthrow the Dai dynasty and was nearly destroyed in the failed coup. 284 467 508
- Heaven Dou Empire — Longstanding rival; Ge Long’s death and the loss of one hundred thousand troops strengthened Star Luo’s position during its agreement with Grace Hall. 284 303
- Clear Sky Sect — Former supporter of the empire before its seclusion. 282 283
- Spirit Hall — A competing continental power that later helped suppress surrounding kingdoms and duchies during the empire’s collapse and restoration. 508
