Ancient Saiyans classified their bloodlines as ordinary Saiyans, Super Saiyans, and Berserker Saiyans. The modern race largely lost this knowledge, retaining only a story of a golden-haired Super Saiyan who appeared roughly two thousand years earlier. By the era of Planet Vegeta, the transformation was treated as a near-myth. 1

The Super Saiyan realm becomes a central goal after Barros establishes Divine Martial Battle Star.
