"I don't know... but they're coming for us." Evileye raised a hand above her head.

A dazzling, pure light gathered in her hand, and a transparent ice crystal appeared out of thin air in her palm.

The grayish-blue demon was only a street away from them. At the speed of a mithril-ranked adventurer, that distance could vanish in an instant.

The demon brought its iron-pincer hands together before its chest, and a massive crimson fireball burned between them.

"Go, [Crystal Lance]!" The crystal lance shot from the girl's hand.

"Roar!" The huge crimson fireball came hurtling toward them.

The crystal lance collided with the crimson fireball. Visually, the smaller crystal lance seemed to be swallowed almost instantly.

Yet the crimson fireball exploded at once. The crystal lance burst from the black smoke of the explosion instead, though it had lost its aim and failed to strike the demon.

The result of the magical clash also confirmed for Evileye that she was stronger than this grayish-blue demon.

"With Gagaran absent, I'll leave the vanguard to you."

"No problem." Lakyus suddenly accelerated, rushing past Evileye.

Although her primary class was faith-based, Lakyus possessed the qualities of a sword-and-shield warrior. More than that, she was practically a heavily armored priest.

Lakyus raised the Sword of Darkness in her hand and slashed at the demon ahead.

The demon raised an arm. The blade struck its iron-like arm, producing a trembling metallic ring.

"So hard!"

The demon swung its other arm. The floating swords circling Lakyus immediately converged, forming a shield that blocked it.

Lakyus stepped back, and several drops of blue blood fell from her blade.

The demon had not emerged unscathed. Lakyus had cut open its arm, wounding its flesh but not its bones.
