Yellow Eel?

Following the cries for help, Hong Mo looked over. Out on the river, a small cargo ship was spinning in the turbulent waters. A young man clung to the railing on the deck, crying out loudly for help.

Hong Mo looked closer and saw several people huddled by the cabin door, anxiously urging the man to hurry over. However, the young man seemed frozen with fear, still clinging to the railing without moving.

With a splash, a dark yellow creature leaped from the river and bit down on the young man's head, then dragged him into the water.

Fuck!

Hong Mo cursed inwardly. What the hell was that thing? Long and dark yellow—why did it look so much like a dragon emerging from the water? But it had moved far too quickly, and Hong Mo had not expected it at all, so he had not seen it clearly.

Seeing the young man dragged into the river, the people inside the cabin stopped screaming. They all hid inside and shut the door tightly.

What exactly was that thing? Hong Mo kept staring in the direction of the small cargo ship. It appeared again. Hong Mo widened his eyes, not daring to relax in the slightest. This time, he saw it clearly: a dark yellow creature, enormous, like... like what? Hong Mo suddenly could not think of a suitable description. A giant python? Could a giant python be that big? Still, it really did resemble a snake magnified many times over.

The creature charged onto the deck again. Its heavy body slammed down, causing the small cargo ship to tilt violently. The mysterious creature did not immediately return to the river. Instead, it rammed its massive head into the cabin door.

Just two impacts. After only two blows, the door was smashed to pieces. Several screams came from inside, and then two people ran out of the cabin and stumbled into the river.

The mysterious creature swam back out, with a human still clamped in its mouth. Only two legs remained outside, flailing about.

Hong Mo made a few gestures with his hands by the riverbank, his face filled with shock. He was fairly far from the river, so the mysterious creature had not seemed all that large. But with the human as a comparison, Hong Mo realized that this thing was rather terrifying.

It was probably about a meter thick in diameter.

Could it be a water python? Hong Mo recalled the meal of raw snake meat he had eaten at the Northern Institute Research Center several years ago. Just then, he suddenly noticed something coming from the opposite side of the Yangtze River.

What the fuck, are you kidding me?!

Hong Mo could not help cursing again, because he saw a human sprinting across the river's surface toward the "water python" still on the deck.

Fine, Hong Mo admitted it. He had not been out of the research center for long, so he did not know much about certain superpowers. That guy was probably some kind of superpowered person. Still, running on waves like that somehow made him look like he was showing off.

As the man ran, the surging river water behind him formed a huge phantom. It looked at least two stories tall.

Boom!

The man suddenly leaped into the air and threw a punch. The phantom formed from the water behind him surged forward, all of it converging on his fist. Then a fist the size of a minibus smashed brutally into the "water python." With a strange cry, the water python shrieked, and the small cargo ship actually could not withstand the tremendous force of that punch, breaking in half down the middle.

That power! Hong Mo could not help touching his nose, feeling a little heavy-hearted.

The battle on the river drew many eyes, but ordinary people did not have eyesight as good as Hong Mo's and could not see it so clearly. To them, it was merely a clash between a superpowered person and a monster.

After falling into the river, the water python did not immediately flee. Instead, it began fighting the superpowered person. Hong Mo could tell that compared with the water python, the superpowered person was at a disadvantage. Although he could move across the water's surface, he was no match for a creature naturally adapted to aquatic life.

Gradually, in the course of their fight, they actually began moving toward Hong Mo.

What was he trying to do? Hong Mo immediately became wary.

When they were a hundred meters from the riverbank, the burly man let out a roar. The huge water giant behind him suddenly split apart, wrapping the water python inside. Then the burly man's muscles swelled all over as he lifted the water python up.

Hah!

A water sphere as large as a small building, containing a massive water python, was thrown toward him by the man. While still in midair, the water sphere was torn apart from the middle by the water python, but it continued flying toward Hong Mo under the force of inertia.

"Get out of the way!" the burly man suddenly shouted.

Fuck!

For the third time, Hong Mo wanted to curse. Couldn't you look where you were throwing things first? By then, Hong Mo understood the man's plan. During the fight, he had drawn the battlefield toward the riverbank before throwing the water python onto land in one go. Clearly, the best way to deal with an aquatic creature was to take it away from the Yangtze River.

The water python had already flown over Hong Mo's head, with the burly man following not far behind. The man was moving quickly, likely intending to intercept it before it could return to the Yangtze River.

Hong Mo grabbed Lingyin and used Instant Activation!

A blurred afterimage flashed beneath the water python. Hong Mo took Lingyin with him and narrowly avoided it. With a rumble, the water python crashed onto the ground, sending out a tremendous tremor, as though a small earthquake had occurred right there.

The burly man also charged over, and the scattered river water re-formed a huge phantom behind him.

The water python struggled to crawl back toward the river, while the burly man kept beating it farther inland. For a while, they were locked in a stalemate again.

"Hey, brother, you're a superpowered person too, aren't you? Don't just stand there watching. Come help me kill this yellow eel." The burly man spoke with a heavy accent and acted overly familiar. On top of that, he had actually punched the water python toward Hong Mo without asking.

Fuck you! Hong Mo could not help raising his middle finger. But what had that guy just said? Yellow eel? Yellow eel? Are you fucking kidding me? This was a yellow eel? This huge?

Fine, he would call it a yellow eel for now. After all, Hong Mo did not know what the thing really was. The yellow eel was smashed toward him by the burly man's punch, but Hong Mo did not dodge. Instead, he stood in front of Lingyin.

At that moment, the burly man also stopped to see what Hong Mo intended to do.

Spreading his arms, Hong Mo directly embraced the huge thing. With a thud, Hong Mo was crushed to the ground beneath its enormous body. Fuck, I forgot about its weight, Hong Mo cursed. Just as the burly man had said, it really was a yellow eel. Its body was slippery all over, and Hong Mo could not get a firm grip on it at all. It was about to slip right past him. But a moment of contact was enough.

Large Electric Field!

Intense lightning spread from Hong Mo's body, accompanied by violent crackling.

The yellow eel struggled wildly, trying to escape. Hong Mo gritted his teeth and increased the current several times over. Starting from his hands, its body gradually began to char black. Hong Mo immediately tightened his grip, and with a crack, his hands pierced fiercely into the yellow eel's body. The yellow eel thrashed, its thick tail sweeping viciously toward Lingyin nearby.

Ice Mirror! A triangular ice mirror instantly formed before Lingyin. With a deafening crash, Lingyin was sent flying. While she was still in midair, a swarm of bats fluttered out and caught her.

Violent electric light ravaged the area. More than ten seconds later, the yellow eel finally stopped moving. White smoke rose from its entire body, along with the smell of roasted meat.

Hong Mo stood up and discovered that his clothes had long since been worn through against the ground by the yellow eel's movements, exposing his bloodied back.

Hong Mo wiped his back with a hand and looked at it. It was covered in blood. Fuck! Seeing himself like this made Hong Mo furious, and he could not help wanting to curse at the superpowered person controlling the water giant. But when Hong Mo looked over, he discovered that the man had already collapsed by the riverbank with his eyes rolled back. It turned out that when Hong Mo discharged the electricity, the man's water had still been wrapped around the yellow eel. When Hong Mo released the current, the man had been shocked senseless as well.

Lingyin slowly descended to the ground. With a gentle wave of her small hand, countless bats fluttered toward the yellow eel on the ground. After circling around its body, however, the bats flew back.

"What is it?" Hong Mo asked.

"Can't suck it." Lingyin tilted her head, propping her chin on one finger, looking utterly adorable.

"Oh, I'll do it." A streak of electricity extended from Hong Mo's right hand, forming a blade about a meter long that hummed with vibration. Hong Mo cut behind the eel's head. It felt like a cleaver striking cowhide—tough and thick.

If not for this Electromagnetic Blade, which wouldn't break, Hong Mo probably would have had to replace several blades before finally cutting the eel open. Murky blood flowed out, and the little bats swooped down on it in a flutter.

After their fill, the bats returned to Lingyin's Soul Space.

Only after seeing that Lingyin was completely unharmed did Hong Mo walk toward the big man. His eyes had rolled back, and whether he lived or died had nothing to do with Hong Mo. It was already merciful enough that Hong Mo hadn't attacked him directly.

Hong Mo didn't go over. Instead, he kicked up a chunk of concrete that the eel's struggling had broken loose. With a smack, the slab landed on the big man's body. He lay there like a lump of dead flesh, completely motionless.

Dead?

Forget it. Too lazy to care. If he was dead, he deserved it. Hong Mo took Lingyin's hand and left just like that, leaving behind the unconscious big man and a "giant eel" drained dry of blood. Only around ten minutes later did someone pass by.

The man first stared from afar. When he drew closer, he gaped at the mountain of flesh before him. "Holy shit, what is that? It's huge!" Then he noticed a figure lying collapsed not far away.

He hurried over, checked the man's breathing, then his heartbeat, and found that he was still alive. He quickly called 120.
