David slammed the pizza down and turned to collapse onto the sofa. "I just got the third disc, and I was about to head to the crater. If my mom hadn't called yesterday and threatened to cut off my credit card, I absolutely would not have gone out."
"You smell sour, like something fermented." Marcus pinched his nose and tossed David a can of beer. "Go take a shower. If Susan across the street saw you looking like this, she'd definitely call the police."
David pulled the tab and chugged a big mouthful. "I'm going back once I finish the turkey. Sephiroth is still waiting for me."
Mike walked up to the TV and pressed the eject button on the Jupiter console.
The disc tray slid out. He took out the disc printed with Final Fantasy VII and put it back into its heavy plastic case.
David shot upright. "What are you doing!"
"No Sephiroth talk tonight." Mike stuffed the case into the TV cabinet drawer, then turned and picked up the N64 beside it. "Tonight is party time."
He inserted the dusty Mario Kart 64 cartridge into the slot and pressed the power button.
Four N64 controllers were tossed onto the sofa.
"Come on, guys." Mike picked up a green controller. "Let's see if, besides pressing circle and X for the last ten days, you still know how to do anything else."
Marcus grabbed a red controller and weighed it in his hand twice. "I'm going to knock you off the track."
David curled his lip, but still picked up a blue controller.
The screen split into four windows.
