Rumble, rumble, rumble. The deafening roar shook everything like thunder, and even those deep within the base could not ignore the violent tremors.
Momonga stood there, his deep gaze fixed on the guild weapon before him as though he were contemplating something.
He tightly gripped a unique staff in his hand. Carved upon it was a man holding up the sky with both hands—one of the subgroup's only two World-Class Items, [Heaven-Supporting God].
"Yu is already on his way over." Momonga's tone was casual, yet it carried an undeniable confidence.
"I never expected things over there to cause such a huge commotion. Did he use super-tier magic again?"
Ulbert nodded slightly, a trace of agreement flashing through his eyes.
"Most likely. In the entire server, he's the only one who can use super-tier magic like a basic attack. He clearly cast super-tier magic just over an hour ago. Normally, it should still be on cooldown."
Bukubukuchagama interjected in a relaxed tone.
"If the GM personally joined the fight, it wouldn't be unreasonable for him to have a few special items. Yu has plenty of special items that won't even appear until the next version."
Touch Me lowered his head to calculate the time, then spoke to Momonga.
"The people who came in should be arriving soon. Let me use [Heaven-Supporting God]."
"But the price of using it is losing twenty levels. You're a [World Champion]. Rather than let your combat power drop, it would be better for a necromancer like me to do it."
Touch Me shook his head and said firmly, "I'm the subgroup leader. This is not something you need to do for me."
"But..."
The two of them tugged back and forth over [Heaven-Supporting God], each hoping to earn the chance to make this sacrifice. The others, who also wanted to vie for it, could not get a word in edgewise.
"Enough."
Bukubukuchagama shouted, decisively stepped forward, and snatched [Heaven-Supporting God] away. Her tone was forceful.
"Stop fighting over it. Let me have this chance. Even if my class drops twenty levels, it won't affect me too much. Besides, the people chasing us are here."
As soon as she finished speaking, more than a dozen minotaurs charged in. The player at their head glared furiously at the group.
"Leave this place immediately. As long as you leave, we won't pursue this matter any further. We'll even give you a large amount of resources. How about it?"
His tone was earnest, without the slightest trace of resentment. He had no choice but to be earnest. The guild weapon was currently in their hands—if he failed to placate them and they simply snapped the weapon, wouldn't the guild be finished?
"Let's all calm down first. Isn't it just one warehouse and one boss? There's no need for things to turn out like this."
"Let's sit down and talk it over properly. Whatever problems there are, we can negotiate them."
At this moment, his attitude was exceedingly humble, completely different from how he had acted on the public channel just over an hour ago. Unfortunately, Momonga and the others had no intention of reconciling with them. If they made peace so easily, how could they face Peroroncino after what he had gone through?
"Sorry, but compared to the resources you're offering, we prefer the ones we steal. Besides, once we blow up your guild, won't everything inside belong to us anyway?"
The corners of Bukubukuchagama's lips curled upward in a sly smile, her words carrying an unquestionable dominance.
The leading minotaur's expression changed. He had not expected the Nine-Man Suicide Subgroup to be this arrogant, utterly disregarding them. But the situation was unfavorable for them now, so he could only remain as calm as possible and search for an opening.
"Are you really going to do this? You should know that our guild is not so easy to provoke."
He attempted to threaten them with his words, hoping they would show some restraint.
However, Momonga and the others remained completely unmoved. They knew their own strength, and they also knew exactly what their opponents were capable of. In this game, strength was the only hard truth, and they were the side with absolute strength.
"How about we make a bet? If you can withstand the damage from a single one of my items, we'll turn around and leave, and we'll even leave behind all the resources."
"But if you lose, your guild will be gone. How about it? Want to give it a try?"
The leading minotaur eyed them suspiciously. He felt there was something wrong with this wager, but he had no choice except to accept. At least agreeing gave them a chance to preserve their guild. If he refused, the other side might simply snap the guild weapon right away.
"Fine, we accept. Let's do it now."
Just one item—it was probably a special item with extremely powerful offensive capabilities. His companions behind him cast all kinds of defensive magic on him, hoping he could withstand that one item.
Yet Momonga and the others merely smiled slyly. Watching the opposing side continuously stack defensive spells, they knew full well that under the attack of a World-Class Item, no one could likely block it unscathed.
Unless they held an item of the same level in their hands as well.
Bukubukuchagama slammed the staff in her hand against the ground. The stone covering it seemed to suffer a violent impact and fell away piece by piece, revealing a solemn, mysterious angelic figure. The angel had six wings on its back, and as it raised both hands toward the sky, its form gradually expanded, becoming ever more imposing.
The minotaur players immediately entered a defensive stance. They stared fixedly at the ever-enlarging phantom of the angel, the muscles in their faces twitching uncontrollably. They had originally believed it was merely an ordinary item, but they had never imagined it was a World-Class Item. Its power was beyond imagination.
At that moment, everyone understood that after this attack landed, whether Storm Horn would continue to exist was no longer certain. They could no longer concern themselves with anything else. All they could do was step forward and fight for the guild weapon.
At the same time, the players outside who had been waiting to pick up the scraps also noticed the growing angelic phantom. They were terrified, wondering whether this was a second World-Class Item.
As the angel grew larger, the sky also began to change. The heavens that had once hung high above gradually descended, as if drawn by the angel's power. When the angel raised its hands to support the sky, the space it held aloft stopped descending, while everywhere else began to fall faster.
In the end, a thunderous roar erupted as the once-sturdy Storm Horn base was crushed beneath that force. The other guild members within the base vanished from the snowfield along with it, leaving behind nothing but wreckage strewn across the ground and terrified players around the perimeter.
Momonga and the others used flight magic to leave the ruins and rendezvous with their companions outside. Thus, only the final step remained in the Nine-Man Suicide Subgroup's second team-building event.
Everyone looked toward the people on the outskirts. Once they dealt with all those opportunists hoping to profit from the chaos, this team-building event would be truly perfect.
P.S.: As for Heaven-Supporting God, the only myth involving Titans and Heracles that I remember is this:
When Heracles stole the golden apples, he discovered that he could not steal them himself, so he found Atlas and said, "I'll hold up the sky for you while you go steal the golden apples." But after Atlas returned, he changed his mind and no longer wanted to bear the weight of the heavens. Heracles pretended to agree and asked Atlas to find him a shoulder pad so he could at least carry the burden a little more comfortably. The moment Atlas handed over the pad, Heracles grabbed the golden apples and ran away. (If Atlas had simply thrown away the sky and run, it would have collapsed and crushed everyone to death, including Atlas.)
It was a classic ancient explanation for why "the sky does not fall down." I speculate that this item is similar to Crushing Wall—when activated, the sky really does collapse.
More importantly, I remember that even before players reached max level in this game, they could already stop time in all sorts of ways. By that logic, the process of the sky falling should also be able to be stopped in time, which makes it seem a little...
I forget where I saw it, but there was a guild made entirely of angels. Because the image of Heaven-Supporting God resembled an angel, they came to Momonga's place to steal Heaven-Supporting God.
