Geography & Administration
- Yu Prefecture was initially a relatively small frontier region compared with the territories controlled by the Yin Harmony Sect and Divine Firmament Sect. Local clans maintained rule through dependent sects, fiefs, and control of lower-level resource production. 190
- It has no major sect originally native to the prefecture; for much of its history, it was exploited by forces dispatched from powerful neighboring provinces. 798
- The Heaven-Piercing Divine Tree stands at Yu Prefecture's northern edge. Its roots and the spiritual-energy tide associated with it are the source of many of the region's later transformations. 195 324
- Documented subdivisions include Jade-Greeting Prefecture, Everforest Circuit, and White Poplar Village. 301
- Heyang City became a major connected hub within the prefecture. The region linked to it extends several thousand li in every direction. 661
- The Qingyang Railway runs north to south across nearly all of Yu Prefecture, with Golden Core cultivators stationed along its route and dedicated cities built around its traffic. 615
History
Sect War and the Final Battle
Yu Prefecture served as a front line in the conflict between the Yin Harmony Sect and Divine Firmament Sect. Despite initially holding the advantage, its front was dragged into a stalemate amid interference from sect-affiliated aristocratic clans. 157
The final battle devastated the main battlefield: a rain of fire stretched for hundreds of li, the ground split apart, and the resulting flames continued burning for months. The event was publicly attributed to Divine Armory cultivators using the forbidden move Skyfire against Ye Sun True Person of the Polar Night Sect. 192
Both major sects sent four Spirit Transformation cultivators to the final battle. Ye Sun took advantage of the conflict to launch a sneak attack, was grievously wounded, and fled after being struck by an obscure Divine Firmament Sect secret treasure. 194
Reconstruction and the Beast Tides
The Yin Harmony Sect and Divine Firmament Sect eventually made peace. Azure Prefecture City, built at the junction of their territories, became a buffer zone supported by resources from both sides. 195
More than a year after the final battle, arriving cultivators found Yu Prefecture thriving rather than ruined: mortals had multiplied, cultivators were increasingly numerous, and Azure Prefecture City was beginning to resemble a budding sacred land. 194
At the same time, rising spiritual energy caused repeated exotic-beast tides. Cultivators defending Azure Prefecture City used Divine Armory firearms, leading outside cultivators to seek weapons and sign large-scale purchase contracts. 194
Secret-Realm Era
Yu Prefecture became known across the Tianhe Domain as a land of opportunity after small secret realms began appearing throughout the region. These realms produced rare heavenly treasures and strange fragments capable of enhancing cultivation. 196
The secret-realm phenomenon attracted independent cultivators, major sect disciples, and aristocratic families from across the domain. Its Dao laws could enable cultivators to leap across multiple realms, while competition for their rewards caused severe casualties among visiting sect elites. 193 235
The influx also intensified local conflict. After the first major secret realm closed, outside sects retaliated against rivals through their Yu Prefecture footholds rather than attempting attacks across vast distances. 241
Rise of Azure Prefecture City
As firearm trade, secret-realm expeditions, and migrant cultivators expanded, Azure Prefecture City developed into Yu Prefecture's customary marketplace. Cultivators sold unwanted secret-realm spoils there, while merchants emerged to profit from regional price differences. 348
Following Ye Xiu's breakthrough to the Nascent Soul Realm, the Divine Armory and Azure Prefecture City were recognized as holding roughly half of Yu Prefecture's “mountains and rivers.” 373
By the later spiritual-energy tide, the prefecture had become a densely contested “dark forest,” where even powerful cross-prefecture sects avoided casually confronting entrenched local forces. 667
Political Landscape
- Yin Harmony Sect — One of the two sects that fought for Yu Prefecture; later made peace with the Divine Firmament Sect and used Divine Armory weapons through regional distribution channels. 195 390
- Divine Firmament Sect — The other principal belligerent in the sect war; its Bai Clan became an important firearm distributor because of the dangers of long-distance transport. 390 476
- Divine Armory — A firearms-producing power that established itself in Azure Prefecture City, served as a buffer between the sects, and became central to the prefecture's economy and defense. 177 195
- Northern Nether Sect — An external sect that carved out territory in southern Yu Prefecture under Yu Beixuan, creating an artificial cold-region base in a local gorge. 283 285
- Heyang City Alliance — A rapidly growing force centered on Heyang City whose development helped draw other sects and independent cultivators into Yu Prefecture. 611 663
Economy & Technology
- Firearms became Yu Prefecture's most influential military commodity. Cultivators praised them for their power, low consumption, and comparatively simple repairs. 177
- Divine Armory firearms gave lower-realm cultivators a meaningful advantage against exotic beasts and, in earlier conflicts, were capable of threatening even Nascent Soul cultivators. 196 283
- Azure Prefecture City grew from a supply point into a major interregional trading center due to firearms, secret-realm spoils, and constant cultivator traffic. 348
- Demand for weapons surged after the spiritual-energy tide increased the number of people with cultivation talent across every region. 390
- The Sky-Piercing Railway and other expanding routes greatly increased population movement between sect territories and subordinate regions, making large-scale resource projects difficult to conceal. 661
- Entry-level cultivation methods and spells became widely accessible throughout Yu Prefecture through Heyang City's promotion during the cultivation boom. 777
Major Threats
- Exotic beast tides — Rising spiritual energy drove repeated beast incursions, transforming Yu Prefecture's conflict from a sect war into prolonged fighting between races. 195
- Secret-realm competition — The emergence of Dao laws and rare treasures brought prodigies and sect forces into violent competition across the prefecture. 196 235
- External sect expansion — Major sects from neighboring regions continue to enter Yu Prefecture for resources, trade routes, territory, and access to firearms. 663 922
- Foreign races — Yu Prefecture's prosperity and resources may attract powerful nonhuman forces, making alliances and intelligence gathering strategically important. 993
- Spiritual-energy instability — The divine tree's influence continues to alter local conditions, including weather, beast evolution, cultivation resources, and spatial routes. 324 492 922
