Background / History

Kushina is an Uzumaki Clan survivor and the vessel of the Nine-Tails. Although she remains in Konoha, she is not permitted to enter the Uchiha district, and the village leadership treats her primarily as a jinchūriki rather than an ordinary kunoichi. Her status also prevents her from joining a standard genin team or carrying out regular missions. 29 36

Tsunade introduces Kushina to Uchiha Yan after recognizing that her sealing knowledge exceeds Tsunade's own. Kushina lends Yan her full collection of sealing materials and agrees to teach him so he can advance his Medical Talisman research. 29 30

Yan's extraordinary learning speed initially frustrates her, but the two become mutually beneficial training partners.
