Background / History

Madara is Uchiha Tajima's eldest son and the elder brother of Qin Mo and Izuna. During the early Uchiha–Senju conflict, Tajima assigned Qin Mo to Madara's squad and ordered Madara to keep Qin Mo's Three-Tomoe Sharingan hidden. Qin Mo's unexpectedly advanced abilities left Madara shaken and suspicious, though he still accepted responsibility for him on the battlefield 2.

Seeking strength to protect the Uchiha, Madara asked Qin Mo to help awaken his Sharingan. Qin Mo used genjutsu to make Madara relive the terror and grief of their mother's death, causing Madara's first tomoe to manifest. Madara accepted the pain as the price of power, declaring that he would endure anything necessary to protect the clan 3.

He was later named the Uchiha's young clan leader after Qin Mo explicitly supported him for the position. Despite his doubts about Qin Mo's methods, Madara repeatedly chose to trust his younger brother's judgment in military and political matters 20 22.

Madara secretly formed a close friendship with Senju Hashirama. Their meetings included stone-skipping, sparring, and discussions free from the hostility between their clans, but their relationship fractured once Madara accepted that he was Indra's reincarnation and Hashirama was Asura's 34 167 168. His emotional break from Hashirama advanced his Sharingan to Three-Tomoe 168.

After entering the Dark Hall, Madara was recognized by Anlong Guyue as Indra's reincarnation. Personality

Madara is fiercely proud of his strength and openly confident in his ability to defeat enemies who outnumber him. He treats battle as a source of exhilaration, laughing while challenging three Ōtsutsuki opponents at once and continuing to fight even when injured 271 272 285.

His arrogance is tempered by fierce familial loyalty. Madara is highly protective of Izuna, and Izuna's apparent death drove him to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan. He also defends Qin Mo's interests before Tajima and ultimately entrusts major decisions to Qin Mo despite initially fearing his methods 8 179.

Madara retains a conflicted emotional bond with Hashirama. He enjoyed their private friendship and sparring sessions, but ultimately suppressed those feelings in favor of Uchiha duty and the conviction that they were destined enemies 34 167 168.
