Wang Tiwu had originally been an Earthling.
But when he woke up, he discovered that he had suddenly become a troll—a desert troll in the Tanaris Desert, and somehow even a chieftain.
He was a WoW player.
And a webnovel enthusiast.
That gave him a fairly strong ability to accept things like transmigration and reincarnation. Although he was quite unhappy about becoming a troll rather than some other handsome race, he had arrived as a chieftain, and it seemed he could not return. After several days, he finally adapted to his new identity.
He had changed from Wang Tiwu into Tonatiuh Aztec.
Just as he had accepted his new identity, the system—let's call it that for now—descended.
The newborn system gave him an appearance different from that of other Sandblood Trolls. Compared to other desert trolls, his skin had become more bluish-white, and his body was fit and upright, like the Zandalari Trolls of the Zandalar Tribe, the ancestral kin of trolls.
If that had been all,
the Sandblood Tribe trolls would have merely assumed that their chieftain had suddenly reverted to his Zandalari ancestry and grown stronger. At most, they would have supported him more fervently and been happier about it.
But his transformation did not stop there. During a meeting of the entire Sandblood Tribe, when every troll in the tribe was present and they were discussing how to deal with the crazed Sandfury Tribe army,
he suddenly transformed before tens of thousands of tribesmen. His two thick, huge tusks—the envy of every male troll—snapped off without warning. Then half the sky abruptly darkened, moonlight and sunlight shining upon him at the same time before vanishing after only a few seconds.
A few seconds later,
Tonatiuh Aztec, chieftain of the Sandblood Tribe, had his once ordinary red desert troll eyes transformed into mismatched pupils—one gold and one silver!
Whenever those eyes looked upon a desert troll of the Sandblood Tribe, no troll dared meet his gaze. It felt as though they were staring directly at a Loa god.
Trolls had always been the race in Azeroth that revered gods the most. They could also be called the most superstitious race—then again, in a world where feudal superstition was not a derogatory term, who could blame them? This world truly contained all kinds of gods and supernatural powers.
After the decline of their civilization, trolls became even more superstitious. Now that they had witnessed their chieftain undergo such changes and heard him repeatedly declare that he had received guidance from the most powerful Loa god, with tens of thousands of trolls seeing it with their own eyes, not one of them disbelieved.
Chieftain = messenger favored by the Loa = obey the Loa god = whatever the chieftain said went.
The entire tribe would relocate without complaint.
Though some were worried and uneasy.
Only Wang Tiwu himself—Tonatiuh Aztec, the person involved—understood what had happened to him.
It was actually very simple.
The cheat of a transmigrator had arrived.
After he accepted his new identity, a vast power descended upon him, transforming his body. It lightened his skin and straightened the hunched frame that desert trolls had once possessed.
Originally, this might have merely meant that Tona—short for Tonatiuh Aztec, and how he would be referred to from now on—had received the favor of some existence. The planar universe of Azeroth had plenty of such powerful figures: Titans, Void Lords, Elune, the Dragon Aspects, Titan Keepers, Old Gods, demons, Loa gods, and even some powerful spellcasters could accomplish something like this from afar.
However—
If it had been one of the existences from this world's setting, something like this should not have appeared...
Under the moonlit curtain of night,
Tona narrowed his eyes, seemingly looking at the tribal camp ahead. Yet a system dialog box had appeared on his retina.
[Main Quest: Migration!] [Quest Description: Migrate your tribe to Un'Goro Crater. The residual power of the Titan ruins can transform a race!] [Quest Reward: Eternal Statue] [Status: Incomplete]
This was the new quest that appeared after he completed the beginner quest—gathering the entire Sandblood Tribe for a meeting.
And the reward for the beginner quest, [Gather the Tribe], had been extremely good. It might even determine the path of power he would follow in the future.
The phenomenon of half day and half night, with sunlight and moonlight shining upon him, along with his eyes later changing into mismatched gold and silver pupils, had all come from the beginner quest's reward.
Products of the system were truly impressive.
The already superstitious desert trolls had witnessed such a thunderous, terrifying, and dazzling "miracle." As a result, even when he announced that the entire tribe would migrate to Un'Goro Crater, no troll dared question or oppose him.
Even when he changed the tribe's original faith from the desert animal Loa they had worshipped—the Scorpion of Wrath Sand—to their current faith—the sun god Tona and moon god Tiu—not a single troll dared step forward in opposition.
But in truth,
Azeroth did not have these two Loa. Even if they did exist, they would not be the Loa as trolls understood them, but some other great existence, like Elune.
He had made up these two Loa. Together, they were simply a split version of his own name.
Tonatiuh Aztec had done this
because of the beginner quest reward—[God and Faith].
[God and Faith: Your existence has changed. Your left eye (gold) can gather faith, while your right eye can unleash destruction (silver). Strengthen the faith of your people and destroy your enemies!]
This was his current power system.
His left eye could absorb faith, and he called it Tona. His right eye presumably released that power, and he called it Tiu.
He had his tribe worship them.
Which was, in fact, worshipping himself.
Just like now.
Standing above the camp, as long as he wished it, Tona could see specks resembling starlight continuously rising from the heads of the Sandblood Tribe trolls before being collected by his left eye.
And at the bottom of his retina,
he could see a special category.
[Faith: 131.3456]
And the number behind it was slowly increasing at a rate of 0.0001 or 0.0002.
At this pace,
by the trolls' understanding, Tona felt that he might become something akin to a troll Loa. But according to Tona's own understanding, forged from reading countless webnovels, this was fucking faith-based godhood—he was going to raise his own divine throne in Azeroth!
But for now, all of that was still far away.
And even if this faith could not turn Tona into a god, it was still a powerful force. Having used the power of faith several times, Tona understood that deeply.
The main quest issued by the system had not yet been completed. It had to be completed, as it concerned future system upgrades.
Completing this main quest was actually simple.
As long as the Sandblood Tribe reached Un'Goro Crater and fulfilled the quest requirements, he could rely on the system's great power, along with the trolls' naturally powerful vitality and survival abilities, to establish a new troll city in that savage land. With the system's help, Tona did not find it difficult.
If he did find it difficult,
he only needed to look at the system's rewards to know there was nothing to worry about.
A beginner reward had given him something that might allow him to become a Loa god, or even something like a god from D&D.
And the reward for the second quest, the main quest, was no worse than the first. It was called the [Eternal Statue].
[Eternal Statue: Designate the image of a certain existence and construct a statue in a designated location. The statue can collect ambient energy from a region and release power capable of transforming living beings, enveloping them within the statue's domain! (The range of energy absorbed from the region and the transformed energy released depends on the statue's level. The direction of transformation is determined by the user... Can be upgraded)]
Just from reading the description,
in terms Azeroth could understand, Tona felt that this was practically a miniature version of the Well of Eternity and the Sunwell!
That was also why, despite knowing how dangerous Un'Goro Crater was, he was still willing to lead his tribe there.
