Though he bore the title of "god," Hive was no true deity. Rather than the "God of Hydra," it would have been more fitting to call him the "God of the Inhumans." His power allowed him to command every Inhuman in the world.

But like the earliest Inhumans born on Earth, he had not been born that way.

This happened when Earth's civilization was still in its tribal age, when primitive people survived by hunting in the wilderness and had not yet been enlightened. Hive had originally been a member of a hunter tribe, going out every day with a stone spear on his back to hunt, barely scraping by.

Until the Kree arrived.

Back when Earth was still in its tribal age, the Kree had already developed an advanced civilization capable of dominating a region of the cosmos. They descended upon Earth, selected a group of fortunate humans, and altered their genes to create a race known as the Inhumans.

Hive was the luckiest among those fortunate few. He had been handed the protagonist's cheat-code template, rising from worthless nobody and beginning his path of showing off, gradually climbing to the pinnacle of life.

Of course, that was only how humans and Inhumans saw it.

Hive's power allowed him to command all Inhumans with ease and become Earth's absolute ruler. In truth, however, he was ultimately nothing more than the Kree's mouthpiece, a tool that made it convenient for them to rule and manage the Inhumans. Put plainly, he was a slave.
