Background / History
Ishizaki attends the preliminary briefing for the uninhabited island exam as a Class C liaison. Rather than focus on the materials, he watches who carries Class D’s documents, answers first, and walks in front. Afterward, he sends Gu Heng a message from Ryuuen asking whom Class C should watch as Class D’s leader 20.
Before the exam, Class C’s scouts report to Ishizaki on conversations with Hirata and Sudo. He initially accepts their accounts of Class D’s division of labor, then grows more cautious when Ryuuen identifies the information as deliberately controlled. Under Ryuuen’s direction, Ishizaki begins probing how Class D responds when its members are pressured 26 27.
Personality
Ishizaki is direct and readily frustrated when a situation resists a clear answer. He enjoys provoking Sudo, but his attempts increasingly run into Class D’s use of boundaries, records, and substitutes. He also adjusts when Ryuuen points out a mistake: after the misleading scout reports, he records the two accounts separately instead of flattening them into one version 27 49 64 66.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Uninhabited island exam
- First zone clash: Ishizaki focuses his group on Sudo at the outer perimeter. Class D enters the judgment zone by another route and scores before Ishizaki can get inside 34.
- Pressure on Class D: He tests whether the class can respond without Gu Heng, disputes access to water, and occupies a planned trade site. At a water-source confirmation, Sudo draws his attention aside so Ike can complete the task without a fight 38 49 56.
- Final-stage leader guess: Ishizaki asks the school whether Class D’s public representative and final-phase leader must be the same person. After the school confirms they are separate roles, Class C submits a guess for Class D’s leader; the guess is correct, but Class D still finishes second 73 80.
Rabbit Group identity exam
- Ishizaki is assigned to the Rabbit Group alongside Gu Heng. He openly says he intends to watch Class D and urges the group to investigate it first 81 82 83.
- When Gu Heng records Class C as a test item, Ishizaki objects. Gu Heng records the objection as a reaction, not proof that Ishizaki knows the hidden Privileged Person 90.
Sports Festival preparations
- Ishizaki helps turn Class D’s public preparation statuses into provocations, including a whiteboard message mocking a reserved participant. He also delivers Ryuuen’s challenge to Class D’s training schedule 124 128.
- As Class D limits what its public records disclose, Ishizaki shifts toward documenting what Class C actually observes. Ryuuen repeatedly prevents those observations from being treated as confirmed individual results or from displacing Class C’s own preparations 139 162.
- After Class D accepts a Strength Event participant from Class C in exchange for a Public Inquiry Right, Ishizaki discusses the result with Ryuuen. Ryuuen notes that Class D accepted a real cost without splitting over the decision 193.
Relationships
- Ryuuen Kakeru — Class C leader who uses Ishizaki to deliver messages, gather observations, and pressure Class D; he corrects Ishizaki’s interpretations when the evidence does not support them 20 27 64 193.
- Sudo — Frequent target of Ishizaki’s provocations. Their contests shift from attempts to draw Sudo into a fight toward tests of whether he will stay within the rules and complete his task 34 49 66.
- Gu Heng — Class D strategist whom Ishizaki is tasked with observing. Gu Heng treats Ishizaki’s attention as a potential source of misleading inferences, particularly in the Rabbit Group 27 39 82.
- Horikita Suzune — Class D’s public representative. Ishizaki challenges whether her role is valid when another student may be the final-phase leader, but her recorded confirmations prevent him from attributing every decision to Gu Heng 73.
