Early the next morning, the story of Ye Ting defeating a troll single-handedly spread throughout Hogwarts.
Most of the young wizards praised Ye Ting's formidable magic, and even some older students said that they would have found it difficult to accomplish such a feat.
Still, a handful of older students jealously insisted that a mere troll was nothing worth mentioning.
Draco Malfoy of Slytherin even claimed before his two lackeys that the troll's appearance had been a scheme by "that Mudblood."
That very night, he was knocked unconscious—according to his own recollection, a metal ball with gears on it had struck him in the head.
Moreover, Professor Quirinus Quirrell completely lost his reputation in this incident. As the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, he had actually fainted from fright at the sight of a troll, while Ye Ting, a student, had defeated it instead.
At this point, everyone recalled Ye Ting's original assessment of Professor Quirinus Quirrell, and all of them began to admire his foresight—Professor Quirinus Quirrell truly was someone who was "all show and no substance."
Over the following days, the atmosphere at Hogwarts gradually became restless, because the Quidditch season was about to begin.
After November arrived, the weather became extremely cold. The mountains around the school were gray and covered in ice and snow, while the lake was cold and hard as quenched steel. Every morning, frost covered the ground.
From the upper-story windows, they could see Hagrid wrapped from head to toe in a long moleskin coat, wearing rabbit-fur gloves and enormous beaver-fur boots as he defrosted the flying brooms on the Quidditch pitch.
Ye Ting also began training with the Ravenclaw team.
Among the team's three Chasers, Ye Ting served as the main attacker with his extraordinary individual ability, while Roger and the other Chaser worked with him, helping him break through, covering him, and providing support.
After Ye Ting joined the Ravenclaw team, he not only raised the team's overall level through his powerful individual ability, but also greatly benefited the team in terms of tactical strategy.
In fact, Hogwarts' four teams each had their own distinct characteristics. Gryffindor possessed strong head-on power, Hufflepuff excelled at drawn-out battles, Slytherin relied on physical confrontation and foul tactics to win, while Ravenclaw was known for its ever-changing tactics.
However, the wizarding world was far too conservative and set in its ways, and most wizards' logical abilities were truly worrying. When it came to researching tactics for ball sports, wizards mostly relied on intuition and rarely carried out scientific statistics, analysis, or summaries, leaving their tactical standards rather backward.
Muggles, on the other hand, valued science and logic, making their research into sports tactics more practical and thorough. Although football and basketball differed greatly from Quidditch, Muggle advanced tactics could still serve as a reference for Quidditch tactics.
Drawing on his own intelligence and combining tactical strategies from Muggle football, basketball, and aerial warfare, Ye Ting designed many Quidditch offensive and defensive tactics for Ravenclaw.
These tactics far surpassed Ravenclaw's existing routines. Even at the Quidditch World Cup, few teams could produce tactics more sophisticated than these. This left the Ravenclaw players deeply impressed by Ye Ting. They all believed that even if Ye Ting did not join the Ministry of Magic as an Auror after graduation, or remain at Hogwarts as a professor—which they considered his best options after graduating—he could still shine in Quidditch and become a legendary player or coach.
Roger even named Ye Ting on the spot as Ravenclaw's next captain.
In reality, Ye Ting was already effectively Ravenclaw's captain. He designed the tactics, arranged the training programs, and was responsible for directing the team during matches—those were all duties that belonged to the captain.
Yet Roger, whose authority had effectively been taken away, was more than happy with the arrangement. Ravenclaw had not won the Quidditch Cup for several years, and now that Ye Ting could lead them to wash away their disgrace, Roger naturally welcomed it as captain.
Thus, apart from their basic drills, the Ravenclaw team devoted all their time to mastering these new tactical combinations. To make the new tactics more effective, they also devised a secrecy plan. They asked the other young wizards of Ravenclaw to patrol around the Quidditch pitch during training, driving away anyone who approached and preventing information from leaking out.
To fully exploit their tactical advantage, Ye Ting designed a set of hand signals for communication. During breaks in training, the players would quiz one another in the Ravenclaw common room on their mastery of the signals.
In Ye Ting's plan, he intended to train Ravenclaw into an army that obeyed every command—just like the Spurs in the NBA.
Although his ultimate goal in this world was to master the laws of magic, and Quidditch was merely a hobby, even a hobby had to be done to the best of one's ability when given the chance—that was his attitude.
Now, everyone on the Ravenclaw team was filled with anticipation for the upcoming Quidditch Cup. They could hardly wait to make a dazzling showing.
