Walking along the streets of Cytaea, Jason did not hurry straight to the palace to meet Aeetes. Instead, he planned to look around and gather information about the Kingdom of Colchis.
To be honest, before coming here, he had indeed imagined that the Kingdom of Colchis would be utterly different from the other nations he had seen. But even he had not expected it to differ so greatly from the lands of Greece.
The difference was not merely in the clothing or architectural style. Everywhere he looked, every detail of the city felt fresh and unfamiliar.
For example, the stone-paved roads.
For example, the drainage ditches carrying wastewater along both sides of those roads.
For example, the four-wheeled carriages racing through the streets.
For example, the refined standardized armor worn by the soldiers here—elsewhere in Greece, such fine equipment was generally something only officers of a certain rank could afford, yet here every soldier possessed it.
And so on...
Of course, the first thing they needed to do was find a shop and change clothes.
Their Greek attire was still far too conspicuous on the streets. In that short while alone, dozens of people had stared at them curiously.
So Jason led his companions into a ready-made clothing shop by the roadside.
They did not have Colchis currency, but they had brought gold.
In fact, they had brought quite a lot of gold for this journey, because they knew they would be arriving in many unfamiliar lands, and gold was accepted everywhere.
Before long, they emerged dressed in short-sleeved garments like the locals, walking as they stretched their limbs and got used to the new clothing.
"How does it feel? These new clothes?" Jason asked his companions as they walked.
