Jason merely smiled at his companions' attempts to persuade him.
"Thank you for the reminder, and thank you for trying to talk me out of this. But I must say, I am neither drunk nor babbling nonsense. My suspicions naturally have their own reasons, and I will explain them one by one. You won't betray me to the goddesses, will you?"
He said the last sentence in a half-joking tone.
Naturally, his companions repeatedly shook their heads.
"Of course not, Jason. How could we betray you?"
"Don't worry, Captain."
Jason naturally trusted his crew. Though there were quite a few heroes among the Argonauts whom he had not known well before, they had traveled together, lived and died together, and gone through so much together. Such camaraderie had naturally forged deep trust between them.
So Jason continued, "Thinking back on it now, perhaps the gods had been plotting against him since that time.
"After that, Pelias proposed the trial of the 'Golden Fleece,' thus laying the groundwork for the Argo's voyage.
"Then Goddess Athena helped us build the unprecedented great ship that was the Argo, while companions joined the Argonauts one after another. That was how fifty of the finest heroes in all Greece gathered together.
"But if we think about it carefully, we heroes who set out on this expedition with dreams of achieving glory and greatness may have been nothing more than puppets of the gods from the very beginning.
"I was indeed full of hot blood back then and failed to see this. It is also what I regret most. But after what happened on Colchis Island, and after putting together the information I learned from the Dragon and those mages, I quickly noticed the anomalies in this entire affair once I thought it over.
"At the
