At first, Ye Ting had thought Nahekt was a good traveling companion: steady and dependable, well-traveled throughout Egypt, knowledgeable, and highly skilled at dealing with people. Although he had recognized Ye Ting's unusual nature early on, he had remained respectful without becoming obsequious.

Thus, Ye Ting had always thought fairly well of him.

However, after the sandstorm ended, Ye Ting began finding him irritating.

Perhaps Ye Ting's methods had frightened him. Nahekt, who had once treated him normally, now looked at Ye Ting as if he were a god. His slaves were the same—they scarcely even dared approach Ye Ting.

Even Nahekt treated Ye Ting like the most honored of masters, as though he himself were a servant.
