Nitocris's War Mage Corps [First Update]

Amid the phalanxes of Egyptian warriors clad in armor and armed with sharp blades, there was one such army.

Every member of this army was strangely devoid of even a scrap of armor, nor did they carry any weapons.

Unlike the other soldiers, they all wore soft, loose robes and held scepters that looked ornate but possessed no combat capability whatsoever. They carried no quivers on their backs either, but rather scrolls made of papyrus, each one of them. Their only distinguishing feature was that the paper of these scrolls was clearly far superior to ordinary papyrus.

Though these people, so utterly out of place among normal warriors, were few in number, they stood openly among the soldiers, and judging by their positions, their status was not low.

They were not scribes, overseers, or logistics personnel from the army. They were genuine frontline combatants. In Nitocris's plans, they were meant to be the decisive force on the battlefield. They were the true source of Nitocris's confidence in launching the war of unification.

They were all mages who had studied Egyptian rune magic.
