(Writing at a café)
Bai Ye was about to say something else when his expression suddenly changed slightly. He put on his hat, tugged the brim of his deerstalker lower, then said:
"I have something to take care of. I'll be heading out for a while."
"Mm... okay." Though they had no idea what Bai Ye was going out to do so late at night, Zofia and the others did not ask.
"Master Bai Ye, be careful!" Maria said with a light smile.
Bai Ye pushed open the bar's door. Beyond it lay the deep night, along with Kazimierz's dazzling nighttime lights.
"Do not go gentle into that good night..."
Swinging his cane, Bai Ye softly recited a poem none of them had ever heard before as he slowly walked into the pitch-black night.
The long street was silent and shrouded in darkness. There were no streetlights, and the windows of the surrounding buildings were black, without a single light inside.
Not far away stood brilliantly lit skyscrapers, as though they belonged to an entirely different world.
The red-haired squirrel knight, Wild Mane Sonia, and the gray-haired knight beside her stopped in perfect unison.
"Hey, you've been following us for so long. Isn't it about time you showed yourselves?"
Sonia slowly turned around, standing in the middle of the street back-to-back with the gray-haired girl.
There was no one there, only the silent night.
But the darkness did not answer Sonia's question.
"Tch..." Sonia gripped her weapon without speaking, staring intently at a corner beside the street.
After a long silence, an arrow tore through the air, piercing the heavy curtain of night as it shot toward Sonia from a tricky angle.
And that arrow seemed merely to be an omen.
Four more arrows followed it, shooting out like lightning.
