"Rain today? Didn't they say it would be cloudy?"

Maria wore her family's inherited armor as she stood at the entrance to the arena.

"Well, this world doesn't have the 'Tree Diagram Designer,' after all..." Bai Ye stood beside her and held out a hand to catch a raindrop.

The Tree Diagram Designer could predict the weather by forecasting the movements of every air particle in the world. Once every month, it would run a prediction, calculating an entire month's weather in one go.

Bai Ye flicked the raindrops from his hand. His hands were covered by silver-white gauntlets, which still felt rather unfamiliar to him.

To be fair, priests were classes that could wear armor to begin with.

Though both were spellcasters, priests differed from mages.

Mages were not adept at using armor and shields. Most armor interfered with a mage's movements and could cause spells with somatic components to fail.

Priests, however, could handle any type of armor, as well as any shield other than tower shields.

Yet Bai Ye had never worn armor before. This was his first time fighting in it.

A light drizzle pattered across the arena, making several shallow puddles glimmer.

Bai Ye patted Maria's shoulder guard.

"Come on. It's time for us to go on."

"Mm."

Maria nodded.

Slowly passing through the contestants' entrance, Maria stepped into the arena.

"Master Bai Ye, perhaps... this will be my last match..."

She spoke softly as they walked.

Over the past month of participating in knight competitions, Maria had seen far too much hidden behind the glamorous facade of these events.

Fartooth's experience had also made her more determined to withdraw—she was not alone. If she kept fighting, she would inevitably drag down the family and friends around her.
