Bai Ye looked at the storyteller, who had vanished from where he stood.
Staring at the spot where he had originally been standing, Bai Ye seemed frozen in place. He did not move at all, as if he had gone blank.
Yet in Bai Ye's eyes, two silver sparks quietly burned.
Just as the storyteller had been preparing to leave, Bai Ye had activated Overclock Mode and forcibly captured the fluctuations from his departure, imprinting them in his mind.
At that very moment, he was revisiting and pondering those fluctuations.
Before he could gain anything from them, he suddenly felt someone tap him on the shoulder.
Bai Ye thus shut off Overclock Mode.
He probably would not comprehend those fluctuations anytime soon, but fortunately, he had plenty of time to contemplate them later.

The person who had tapped Bai Ye was Texas. After everyone had cleared out the Ink Wraiths that had invaded the town, she had come to the garden to find him.
"Where's that storyteller?" Texas asked, brushing back sweat-dampened strands of hair.
"He left." Bai Ye pointed up at the sky.
"I see... What a shameless ability." Texas sounded irritated.
"But now we don't have to worry about her escaping. After all, she still doesn't know why we really came here. She's probably still thinking of punishing us." Bai Ye smiled.
The two slowly walked out of the garden, only to find that more than half the town beyond it had been destroyed, with many of its residents dead or injured.
