Though he had only met him once, Li Shun had instinctively sensed that the little boy was no ordinary child.
So after the banquet, he asked Xi, the chief of the Gauze Wasteland Clan, about him.
"Oh, you mean Chui?"
"Ever since he was little, the boy's had a taste for all sorts of things. That would be fine on its own, but he's always muttering to himself, saying he wants to write down everything he's ever eaten." Xi smiled warmly. "He used to be quite the mischievous child, but after he resolved to write a book, he became studious instead. So I let him be." As he spoke, Xi's fondness for Chui was plain in his eyes and smile.
"I noticed the silk thread Chui used to record things..." Remembering how Chui had been compiling the Wilds Food Record, Li Shun asked, curious.
Xi's expression grew solemn. "That is a gift from the great god on Unsalted Mountain."
As he spoke, Xi reached behind himself as well.
This time, Li Shun saw clearly.
A silver-glimmering thread emerged from his back without warning.
Then, as if it had a mind of its own, it darted around Xi, lively and nimble.
"This spirit light can control objects, capture enemies, and write down events. Even when we're gravely injured, it can help us recover. It can even regrow severed limbs."
"It is thanks to the spirit light's protection that our Red Wasteland Clan has continued to grow stronger," Xi said, his voice low with awe for the god.
Li Shun stared at the spirit light beside him, feeling that it was somehow...

And sacred.
Two utterly different impressions surfaced at once, yet they did not clash. Instead, they melded together flawlessly.
