Background

Li Qing is Li Shun's younger brother and Xiao Yuan's brother. After Li Shun was forcibly taken away for labor service, Li Qing and Xiao Yuan were left destitute and nearly starved while begging on the streets. Elder Wei took them in, raising them and bestowing their cultivation and longevity upon them. Li Qing remembers Li Shun as the sibling who had supported the family from childhood, always giving food to the younger children before himself. 51

Life in Imperial Tomb Commandery left Li Qing deeply hostile to Great Qian. He resents the tomb-guarding clan's hereditary burden and refuses to have children, fearing they would be condemned to guard Emperor Gan's tomb and become human figurines after death. Under Elder Wei's influence, he adopted an open belief in regicide, regarding Emperor Gan as a mortal who can and should die. 51 56 58

Before Li Shun's return, Li Qing became a leading troublemaker in East Mountain Town. He organized residents to demand the restoration or replacement of the absent warden, citing renewed tomb-raider threats. His confrontation with the newly arrived Fang Xun puppet ends when Li Shun recognizes him and calls him by his childhood name. 50

Personality

Li Qing is fiercely loyal and protective toward Li Shun. He mourns intensely when Li Shun's body is found murdered, fights Heaven's Lifespan Demand without hesitation, and later tries to shield his brother from heavenly tribulation lightning. He also insists that Li Shun keep the secret of Threefold Self-Reflection hidden, recognizing that torture could force even a loyal brother to reveal it. 54 55 57 104

His resentment toward Great Qian makes him impulsive and hot-tempered. He is quick to condemn exploitation, corruption, and imperial authority, whether confronting the overpriced incense seller at Qian Yuan Shrine or reacting to the theft of Fang Han's Creation. Li Qing leads townspeople in demanding action over East Mountain Town's unprotected tombs. He nearly clashes with Fang Xun before Li Shun intervenes, slaps him twice, and reveals his identity through Li Qing's childhood name. 50

Heaven's Lifespan Demand

After Li Shun's true body is killed, Li Qing grieves for his brother and demands revenge. He later confronts the black shadow known as Heaven's Lifespan Demand, enduring its lethal threads with his body and defeating it through brute force. 54 55

Li Qing explains that Imperial Tomb Heaven claims thirty percent of borrowed lifespan and manifests far more dangerous Lifespan Demand shadows than the outside world. He becomes Li Shun's confidant after learning that his brother borrowed two hundred years of lifespan. 55 75

Imperial Tomb Tribulation

Li Qing helps Li Shun confront the dangers surrounding Imperial Tomb Commandery's return to Mystic Yellow Heaven. In one reflected timeline, he throws himself in front of a heavenly lightning strike aimed at Li Shun and is killed alongside him; the subsequent reset gives them another chance to avert the calamity. 104 105

He later explains the Tribulation of Law Discord and its connection to lifespan borrowers using gold and silver to exploit Heaven's contracts. 106

Shangyu County Service

When Li Shun becomes acting Shangyu County Magistrate, he appoints Li Qing as temporary patrol constable. Li Qing takes the position seriously, patrols the county in uniform, and commands the respect of local constables due to both his status and cultivation. 135
