"Honored elder brothers, beautiful elder sisters, this concerns the glory of our Titans. Are you really going to stand by and do nothing?"
Within the Temple of Fate, King of Gods Kronos forcefully suppressed the rage in his heart and declared in a majestic, thunderous voice, "Theron, that God of Fate who crossed the line, has already risen above all of us!"
"He is interfering with the development of this world. His power now threatens the interests of our Titans. Do you want a mountain hanging over your heads forever?!"
"I believe you all saw the battle not long ago. Theron has completely sided with that traitor. Once that traitor becomes King of Gods, will the supreme authority of our Titans still exist?!"
At those words, all six Titans fell silent.
The Goddess of Necessity
Kronos had never been so furious.
He had finally been about to break free of fate's curse. He had finally been about to swallow that rebellious son into his belly. Yet at this moment, that damned Theron had appeared again!
This was not the first time!
Repeated provocations had finally driven the King of Gods into a towering rage, to the point where he could barely restrain his reason any longer.
He attacked that barrier like a madman for a long time before barely calming himself down. Only then did he hurry back to the temple of the Three Fates and ask the question he most wanted answered.
"Will Theron threaten my position as King of Gods?" Facing the somewhat surprised gazes of the Three Fates, Kronos asked without hesitation, "Will he overturn the glory of our Titans?"
Then, under Kronos's terrified and furious gaze, the three goddesses slowly nodded.
"He will."
Those two simple words left Kronos standing frozen in place.
Though he had long guessed that this would be the answer, when he truly heard it confirmed, the first thing that rose in his heart was still disbelief.
That man truly was his enemy!
The heart that had been hanging in suspense finally died. At that moment, even those traitors no longer mattered. Kronos had only one thought left in his mind.
He had to find a way to deal with Theron.
This was the source of fate's curse. Only by dealing with him could he break free from fate's control!
At that thought, Kronos could no longer remain calm. He immediately used the authority of the King of Gods to summon all the Titans.
The reason he summoned the Titans instead of going after Theron himself was because a fear he refused even to admit to himself lurked deep within his heart.
Even as King of Gods, even with the great power of creation under his control, he still had no confidence when facing that mysterious man.
Under such circumstances, he could only seek help.
Aside from several who had declined to come with various excuses, a total of six Titans ultimately arrived.
Before those six Titans, Kronos once again asked the Three Fates the same question. "Will Theron overturn the glory of the Titans?"
"He will."
The Three Fates answered without hesitation, and the expressions of the six Titans changed drastically.
They had not wanted to interfere in the struggle between Zeus and Kronos because they considered it the King of Gods' family affair. But as fellow Titans, they would never allow anyone to threaten the glory of the Titans.
Even if the other party was the mysterious God of Fate, they could no longer stand by and watch.
But...
"What should we do?" Hyperion asked. "Theron is too mysterious and too powerful. Even if all of us gods join forces, we may not necessarily be his match."
At those words, all the Titans fell silent, including Kronos.
Because none of them knew just how powerful Theron truly was.
"Perhaps we should ask a wise man," Kronos finally said. "Prometheus is a very clever child. He can always foresee what will happen."
The gods had all heard of this son of Iapetus, the God of Foresight, and thus agreed to hear him out.
But after learning the full story, Prometheus revealed a hesitant expression. "Your Majesty, this matter is too significant. I need time to think it over carefully."
The gods did not find this strange. A matter this important naturally required careful consideration. They would not dare use a plan that had been produced on a whim.
With that in mind, they agreed to Prometheus's request.
Prometheus left with a heavy heart. Only the seven Titans remained in the Temple of Fate, still discussing how to deal with Theron and preserve the glory of their Titans.
They had no idea that Prometheus, the strategist in whom they had placed such high hopes, went to The Void the moment he left the temple and crossed the barrier with Theron's help.
Upon seeing that familiar white figure, Prometheus got straight to the point and recounted everything he had learned. When he finished, concern filled his face. "Lord Theron, what should we do now?"
"There are six Titans in total! And King of Gods Kronos is among them!"
Prometheus felt an unprecedented crisis and, for once, lost his composure and calm.
Yet Theron merely smiled and said gently, "Don't worry. I already know all of this."
Prometheus froze, unable for quite some time to process what those words meant.
And before he could think further, Theron spoke again. "Besides, the King of Gods will protect me."
As he spoke, he glanced at the indestructible barrier outside The Void, a trace of amusement appearing in his eyes.
Prometheus: "?"
Prometheus was sent away in confusion. Even though he was the God of Foresight, he still had no idea what Theron intended to do.
Theron had deliberately made the Three Fates say those words.
As the struggle for the throne of the King of Gods between Zeus and Kronos progressed, nearly every Titan would eventually be forced to choose a side. It was not something they could avoid merely by wishing to remain neutral.
But that was something that would happen later.
By acting now, Theron had undoubtedly drawn everyone's attention and forcibly shifted onto himself what Zeus should have been facing.
This was undoubtedly a major alteration of fate. After all, even Kronos now had little interest in dealing with those gods on Olympus.
Theron was not afraid of making enemies. As long as he remained within this Void, the King of Gods' "protection" would shield him forever. Thus, this was a risk-free attempt, and no one could stop him.
Theron could hardly wait to see the result of this attempt. He wondered just how much fate could be shifted by doing this.
Just as his thoughts ran wild, an elegant figure silently emerged beyond the endless Void. Sparkling stars adorned her enormous, profound skirt.
The instant that graceful figure appeared, Theron immediately sensed her presence and was greatly surprised.
Though he did not know why Nyx had come looking for him, he still opened the barrier and welcomed her inside.
"Honored Lady of the Night, may I ask what brings you here?"
Theron asked politely, while thinking, She can't be here to collect a debt, can she? I was already planning to default on it.
"You are doing something very dangerous."
Nyx raised her head. Endless darkness concealed her perfect features, but unlike usual, her voice was no longer completely flat and devoid of emotion. Instead, it carried an indescribable quality.
Theron could not help but freeze, not only because of her words, but because Nyx no longer seemed like an utterly impersonal primordial god. There was clearly emotion in her voice.
That feeling was like... teasing?
"No matter what you wish to do, ingenuity can never overcome necessity."
She spoke lazily, her voice carrying an obvious hint of amusement. "Or perhaps I could give you a chance to bribe me."
Theron finally realized something. His eyes widened abruptly. "You are not Nyx—"
"You are... Ananke?!"
Overturning the World
"Fate can be twisted, but necessity must be obeyed."
A languid voice rang out. Even Eternal Night's Black could not conceal the goddess's seductive gaze. She looked Theron up and down, letting out a soft laugh.
"Yet you are trying to break necessity. Should I say your courage is commendable, or that you are naive?"
Theron watched the goddess before him warily, unable to think of how to respond for a moment.
Before crossing into Greece, he had occasionally heard that Nyx, the goddess of night, possessed three divine aspects: Ananke, the Goddess of Necessity; Adrasteia, the Goddess of Natural Law; and Heimarmene, the Goddess of Causality and Fate.
This represented how destiny, opportunity, cause and effect, and karmic law manifested within fate.
There was even a theory that Nyx had given birth to the Three Fates because the fate created by Ananke, the Goddess of Necessity, required someone to sort, maintain, and weave it.
Theron had only replaced the divine authority of fate itself, without touching necessity. Thus, the Three Fates could not be born, but Ananke remained unaffected.
Yet in his thousands of years of contact with Nyx, Theron had never discovered these three aspects. He did not know in what form they existed, or even whether they truly existed at all.
But now, it seemed that they existed within Nyx, like the many facets of one god's personality, yet also like several beings in one.
As an ancient primordial god, Nyx herself had almost never been personified. She seemed uninterested in everything, representing only the stillness of Eternal Night.
But this Lady Ananke had displayed a clear personality the moment she appeared.
Her pitch-black Eternal Night gown covered her entire body, yet as she moved, Theron could still see her lush and graceful figure.
The goddess slowly approached Theron, stopping at an extremely dangerous distance. With great interest, she asked, "You have violated this world's rules and defied my laws. How do you think I should punish you?"
They stood extremely close. Theron felt as if she were nearly pressing against him, and he could even sense the warm, tranquil aura of Eternal Night around her. It made his scalp tingle.
He had not forgotten that she was an exceptionally powerful primordial god. From certain perspectives, she could even contend with King of Gods Kronos.
"You jest, Goddess." Theron forced a smile onto his face. "I have no intention of desecrating necessity. I merely wish to protect myself."
"Do I look like a fool?" Ananke tilted her head slightly, her smile becoming more pronounced. "I know every move you have made over these years."
"Why do you think Nyx repeatedly helped you? Speaking of which, you ought to thank me. Nyx kept watching over you because I was interested in you."
At those words, many of Theron's previous doubts were instantly explained.
He had long felt that Nyx treated him differently. That indifferent goddess had never involved herself in matters among the gods, yet she had been especially accommodating toward his requests.
She had even made requests of him herself. In essence, that was a form of attention.
But... why was Ananke paying attention to him?
As if she had seen through his confusion, Ananke laughed softly, her voice full of the delight of discovering something novel.
"You are the only variable outside necessity. Of course I would pay attention to you. In this entire world, yours is the only fate I cannot see clearly, and only you can affect me."
"You seem immune to the influence of necessity. So from the first moment I saw you, I knew you would bring many interesting changes to this world."
Hearing this, Theron's heart stirred.
