All of this proclaimed that the divine authority over thunder no longer belonged to Zeus.
The Moon God and Sun God sensed the change in divine authority. They hurriedly descended to the earth to investigate, only to see a monster with over a hundred heads holding Zeus's scepter aloft and laughing wildly.
The sight was so horrifying and shocking that even the gods, who had never seen such a spectacle before, could not help but stare in stunned disbelief.
Zeus: It's Over, I Was Careless!
Dark clouds blotted out the sun. The towering monster let out wild laughter, raising Zeus's Thunder Staff high in its hand.
The Sun God and Moon God were horrified at the sight. They rushed forward to stop it, only to be effortlessly defeated by the monster. Its power far exceeded their imagination!
A solar eclipse and lunar eclipse occurred at the same time, and darkness descended upon the land.
The darkness within Tartarus, god of the dark abyss, began to erode the world. Only then did the gods on Mount Olympus realize that something was terribly wrong. They looked in terror at the dreadful monster upon the earth.
Typhon slowly shifted his enormous body and walked toward the endless sea. The boundless waters only reached his waist!
Typhon intended to erode the divine authority of the sea. Poseidon, lord of the ocean, rode forth in his golden chariot, trident in hand and battle armor gleaming coldly, ready to fight Typhon.
"Damned monster, get out of my ocean!"
Poseidon let out a mighty roar and raised his trident high. The entire ocean began to boil, endless waves churning into a sky-covering tsunami that crashed fiercely toward the massive monster!
The wind gods of the four directions—east, west, south, and north—came to aid him. With their assistance, the tsunami rose even higher!
Yet the dreadful monster merely swung its serpent tail. In the next moment, that massive tail smashed heavily into the tsunami. The endless seawater collapsed at once, unable even to halt the serpent tail's attack.
Caught off guard, Poseidon was struck directly by the tail and instantly smashed into the deep sea. The terrifying power left him too frightened to emerge again, while his exquisite and imposing sea god chariot was smashed to pieces by Typhon.
The gods who had intended to go forward and help the sea god turned pale with fright at the sight.
But Typhon had no concern for their feelings. His enormous body slowly moved forward, heading straight for Mount Olympus!
Meanwhile, the monster's hundred-plus dragon heads roared loudly enough to shake the entire world. "Foolish gods of Olympus, today is your end!"
"I will enslave you so that you can no longer stand hypocritically above all others! And you, beautiful goddess Hera—your power of fertility will become the breeding ground for my offspring!"
Hearing that terrifying voice and feeling the overwhelming oppressive power, the gods knew full well that they had no way to defeat Typhon. One after another, they fled Mount Olympus.
To evade Typhon's search, at Pan's suggestion, the gods transformed into all kinds of animals and fled to distant lands. The beautiful Hera became a white cow, the nurturing goddess Leto became a mouse, and so on.
The gods asked Pan, with his goat's head and human body, to continue searching for Zeus. They all understood that whether this crisis could be resolved depended on Zeus.
Zeus was the strongest god among them and the god king they trusted. He had even defeated Kronos. They had complete faith in Zeus.
After Pan's tireless efforts, he finally found Zeus, king of the gods, still making love on Crete. When Zeus learned of the gods' plight, he suddenly realized that he had not returned to Mount Olympus for a very long time.
And his Thunder Scepter was gone as well.
Without the Thunder Scepter, Zeus had effectively lost the divine authority of thunder. His divine power could no longer be brought to its fullest extent, and his combat strength had fallen again and again.
"Damn it, where did this monster come from?!" Zeus was both furious and annoyed. In truth, he knew perfectly well that only Gaia could give birth to a monster with power on this level.
All he felt now was regret—deep regret. Theron's warning echoed in his mind, and only now did he understand the deeper meaning behind those words.
If only he had listened to Theron back then and not looked down on the goddesses so much. If only he had gone to visit even once when he knew Gaia was furious, none of this would have happened. This monster would never have been born.
But it was too late. Everything was too late. The monster had already been born. What he needed to consider now was how to deal with it.
Zeus had never been an arrogant god. Without knowing the enemy's true strength, he wanted to find a safer solution.
But then he saw the hopeful look in Pan's eyes.
Zeus froze, suddenly remembering that he was already the god king, the example for all gods. Who knew how many gods were now waiting for him to save the world?
If he retreated now, the prestige he had painstakingly built up as god king over so many years would likely be swept away in an instant.
Not only that, but whenever the gods thought of him in the future, they would only see him as a lecherous and foolish god king whose own mistake had plunged the entire world into crisis.
How could he allow that?!
Besides, he still wanted to gain Chaos World's recognition and obtain the world-creating power that belonged to the god king. If he backed down at a time like this, forget recognition—the world would be doing him a favor by not becoming dissatisfied with him.
After all, this disaster truly had been caused by his carelessness.
Only then did Zeus awkwardly realize that he seemed to have no way out.
Unless he no longer wanted the throne of the god king...
Taking a deep breath, Zeus said to Pan, "I'll go meet him."
"Even without thunder, I can still deal with such a foolish monster."
He seemed to become that invincible god king once more, the absolute ruler who had brought the entire old era to an end. Hope instantly lit up Pan's eyes, and he said with immense respect and admiration:
"Great God King, it is our fortune that this world has you. Your bravery will be sung for all eternity!"
Zeus was quite pleased by those words. Being regarded by the gods as their savior filled his heart with excitement, making his blood boil even more fiercely than when he had fought Kronos.
Without the slightest hesitation, Zeus charged back toward Mount Olympus, ready to face the monster that had sent the gods fleeing in panic.
Gods could not be killed anyway, and Zeus had confidence in his own immense strength. He believed that even if he could not defeat it, he could at least escape unscathed.
Having lost the Thunder Scepter and not yet obtained world-creating power, Zeus could only rely on his own strength. Fortunately, he had been powerful from birth. Even without external aid, he was still at the level of a mighty Titan god.
But clearly, he had underestimated the power of Tartarus, the abyss, and Gaia, the Earth Mother. Typhon, jointly conceived by the two of them, was far stronger than Zeus had imagined.
Typhon, that terrifying progenitor of all monsters, had defeated Poseidon with a single blow. Facing Zeus, he did not need much effort either.
Under the tense gazes of the gods, Zeus charged forward with his head held high, looking imposing and domineering. Then...
He was impressively pinned to the ground and hammered by Typhon.
Typhon merely swung his tail, and that terrifying force slammed into Zeus like a mountain. Zeus was instantly blasted into the earth like a cannonball, smashing out an enormous crater.
Zeus was furious. He let out an unwilling roar, leaped from the crater, and slammed his fist viciously into Typhon's body. But in the next moment, he was firmly seized by over two hundred arms. The strength was too terrifying—he could not break free at all!
The gods were stunned. Zeus was stunned too.
Wait, you're a stat monster too?
Hera, Please Have Some Self-Respect. I'm Not That Kind of God
"Great Lord Theron, aren't you going to help?"
In the void, Prometheus looked anxiously at the devastated world outside and could not help asking in a low voice.
As the god of foreknowledge, Prometheus still cared deeply about this world and did not wish to see living beings suffer devastation.
But Theron merely shook his head. "It's not time yet."
There was skill in helping others as well.
If you stepped in halfway through someone's fight, they would only think you were adding flowers to brocade. They might even believe they could have won on their own.
But if they truly failed and you stepped in to save the situation, the meaning would be entirely different.
Moreover, this disaster had been caused by Zeus. Only after it was certain that Zeus could not resolve it, and that no one else in the world could resolve it either, would Theron have room to act.
Room to negotiate with Chaos World.
Although Chaos itself had no consciousness, it did not want the world to be destroyed. That was its instinct.
Only under such circumstances could Theron use the opportunity to gain more recognition. Put simply, he could raise the stakes.
Was the price the same when he volunteered to do something as when they begged him to do it?
Prometheus did not understand all these twists and turns, but he was a smart man. The advantage of being smart was knowing not to press further and knowing when to stop.
Once he saw that Theron had no intention of abandoning this world, he felt relieved and quietly waited for the outcome.
Meanwhile, inside the world.
No one had expected that Zeus, the powerful god king and the hope in the hearts of the gods, would be so easily defeated before that terrifying monster that blotted out the sky!
Zeus had lost thunder and had not obtained world-creating power, so his own strength had greatly declined. Typhon, meanwhile, was at the peak of his power. The instant they clashed, the difference between them became obvious.
Even knowing that the gods were watching, Zeus did not dare remain any longer. He hurriedly tried to flee, intending to retrieve the Thunder Scepter and fight again.
But Typhon refused to let such a good opportunity go. The terrifying monster tightly coiled its thick serpent tail around Zeus's body.
Gods could not be killed, so Typhon destroyed Zeus's armor, severed the tendons in his hands and feet, then bound him tightly inside a cave to ensure that he could not escape.
The great lord of the gods, the heroic god king, was trapped by Typhon just like that.
This filled the gods with utter despair. Some even suspected that the end of the world was near.
They could neither fight the powerful Typhon nor find anyone skilled at moving in secret to rescue Zeus. For a time, the gods had no idea what to do.
Mount Olympus had been occupied by Typhon, and the gods did not dare return. Transformed into animals, they hid in distant lands and began discussing countermeasures.
"We must find a way to save Zeus and help him retrieve the Thunder Scepter. Otherwise, the world will be destroyed, and all we can do is watch helplessly!"
The beautiful Hera spoke first. Though she was the goddess of fertility, her own combat ability was not weak. She was even known as a valkyrie. Under such circumstances, she appeared far calmer than the other more delicate goddesses.
"But how are we supposed to save Zeus?" Leto could not help asking. The frail goddess had completely lost her composure and was panicking terribly.
As soon as she said that, the gods fell silent. They did not know what to do either. None of them was skilled at covert operations.
In the original Greek myths, there had been Hermes, the god of thieves, and it was ultimately he who helped Zeus escape his predicament. But that god had not yet been born.
Just as every god had fallen silent, not knowing what to do, Metis, goddess of wisdom, spoke:
"At a time like this, only one person can change the situation."
Compared to Hera's toughness, Leto's weakness, and the gods' panic, Metis maintained absolute calm. A glimmer of wisdom faintly shone in her beautiful, captivating eyes.
Her composure influenced the other gods as well, and the panicked gods gradually calmed down.
"Who should we seek?" Poseidon, ever impatient, asked first. "Even Zeus has already been defeated. Who can we possibly turn to?"
"Theron, the god of fate," Metis said. "If there is anyone in this world who can resolve this predicament, it can only be him."
The first thing Poseidon wanted to do was refute her. He did not believe that fellow was stronger than he was. If even he could not defeat Typhon, how could that charlatan possibly have a solution?
But as though she knew what he was about to say, Hera cut him off first. "In that case, let us go ask that lord."
Among the six new gods of Olympus, aside from Poseidon truly having little sense, the others all had thoughts of their own to some extent.
When they had fought Kronos, they had all heard what Kronos said. They knew that Theron might not be particularly strong in battle, but an ancient primordial god who had lived from antiquity until now could not possibly be simple.
Even Zeus did not dare underestimate Theron lightly, much less the other gods.
Only Poseidon had perfectly inherited every flaw from both his grandfather and father. He truly had a one-track mind.
Seeing that the gods had already decided to seek Theron, Poseidon could only suppress his many thoughts.
He thought unhappily, Let's see what kind of solution that charlatan can come up with.
