History

Li Long conceived the Rod's evolution after Qian Shengyuan captured the fifty-thousand-year Queen Medusa. Rather than use the soul beast as a conventional soul ring, Li Long proposed sealing it into his Iron Rod and using Aromatic Silk Beauty to elevate both the weapon and the soul beast's bloodline. Qian Shengyuan considered the plan dangerous but plausible, then brought Li Long to Coiling Dragon Douluo Long Yuan for help. 56 58

Long Yuan taught Li Long the Coiling Dragon Clan's Sealing Method. The process required Long Yuan to force the Queen Medusa's spirit into the Rod from outside while Li Long created and stabilized internal Soul Power channels for it. 59 Li Long then spoke directly with the sealed Queen Medusa, offering it the chance to evolve rather than treating it solely as a weapon. 60

After seven days of cultivation with Aromatic Silk Beauty, the Iron Rod fully evolved into the Dragon Emperor Rod. The Queen Medusa became the Dragon Emperor Medusa, granting the Rod an independent draconic spirit and three domain abilities. 61

Beneath the Icefire Yin-Yang Well, Li Long accepted an agreement with the remnant souls of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings. Their power fused with the Dragon Emperor Medusa, beginning its evolution into a future Divine Dragon. The transformation forced the dragon into a dormant egg state and removed its domain support until it hatches. 83 85

Appearance

The Dragon Emperor Rod is a thick, inky-blue rod covered in interwoven dark-gold scale patterns. Its grip bears two coiling dragon reliefs facing one another, while a dark-gold sheen moves across its surface as though something living is breathing inside. 61

• Its sealed state initially produced restrained dark-gold patterns and scale-like reliefs on the formerly black Iron Rod. 60
