Background
Zhou Ye was originally an urban white-collar worker who enjoyed wilderness hiking. While hiking on a safe route, he transmigrated into the body of another Zhou Ye: an orphaned, malnourished farmer of roughly fourteen or fifteen who had never left his village. The original body was caught in corvée labor and survived a wild-boar attack only through the transmigration. 1
He awakens in a brutal feudal society where commoners suffer under government exactions and landlords. His body is extremely weak, but he possesses a virtual panel that records attributes, techniques, martial skills, experience, and free attribute points. 1
Rather than return to corvée labor or his village, Zhou Ye abandons the sole-survivor camp and chooses to survive in the mountains. Drawing on hiking experience from his former life, he scavenges equipment, crosses several mountains, and establishes the isolated Little Homestead near fertile land, a stream, bamboo groves, and a cliff. 2 3 4
Appearance
Zhou Ye initially inhabits a thin, frail body damaged by chronic malnutrition. After months of regular food, hunting, training, and physical development, he grows more than half a head taller, reaches an ordinary adult height, and develops visible muscle and abdominal definition. 1 28
- Initially wore tattered straw sandals before replacing them with soldiers' leather boots, leather armor, and an iron helmet. 3
- Has an intentionally inconspicuous, ordinary-looking face that he considers useful for keeping a low profile. 28
- By age fifteen, his exceptional Agility and Essence stand out despite his otherwise ordinary appearance. 28
Personality
Zhou Ye is pragmatic, cautious, and strongly survival-oriented. He avoids unnecessary confrontations, distrusts suspicious business arrangements, prepares escape routes, and prefers to remain overlooked rather than display his strength. 24 34 44
He is also methodical about self-improvement. He tests training methods, tracks efficiency, seeks manuals and instruction, and uses the panel's precise warnings to avoid hidden injuries. His poor innate aptitude does not discourage him; he relies on persistence and the certainty that recorded progress will eventually accumulate. 5 36 39
Despite his guarded nature, Zhou Ye is capable of generosity. He shares food with Huang Sheng and Wu Jun, lends money to help Xinghua's family, gives supplies to friends, and assists a woman and infant fleeing the prefectural chaos. 36 39 46 48
Abilities & Skills
Virtual Panel
Zhou Ye's defining advantage is a panel that quantifies his body and training.
- Displays his attributes, cultivation methods, martial skills, experience thresholds, and free attribute points. 1
- Grants rewards for certain breakthroughs, including attribute increases and free points. 5 24 28
- Warns him when techniques exceed his physical requirements or daily limit, preventing severe injury and hidden damage. 7 36
- Allows him to improve attributes immediately; increasing Constitution once restored his Health to full. 5
- Does not provide unlimited beginner rewards: only five same-tier martial skills award points upon reaching Beginner level. 9
Basic Martial Skills
Zhou Ye deliberately builds a broad combat foundation rather than specializing immediately.
- Basic Chopping — His first skill and first maximum-level martial skill; applies to chopping motions with sabers, axes, swords, and similar weapons. 1 11 28
- Basic Throwing — Used with knives, stones, and throwing spears; reaches maximum level and becomes a principal ranged option. 8 32
- Basic Movement — Trained through weighted obstacle courses, sprinting, climbing, and evasive movement; reaches maximum level and is merged into Cloud-Leaping Ladder. 12 41
- Basic Archery — Used for hunting and defensive combat; he employs an eight-stone bow and later recognizes the need for iron-shaft arrows to fully exploit it. 7 33 47
- Basic Shield Strike — Supports his defensive fighting style with the Fish-Scale Shield. 27 43
- Basic Thrusting, Hammering, and Fist Technique — Additional foundational skills cultivated to avoid obvious weaknesses. 16 41
Basic Poison Technique
A Mortal-ranked cultivation method developed through venom collection and medicinal study.
- Harvests Bamboo Leaf Green snake venom and coats arrows and throwing spears with it. 16
- Gains experience by studying illustrated guides, medicinal books, and the Pharmacopoeia Compendium. 20 23
- Reaches Complete level before any of his martial skills, earning major rewards to Comprehension, Constitution, and natural attribute points. 24
- Its lethality is not dependent on matching an opponent's cultivation level, making it useful against stronger foes. 16
Small Wind-Thunder Stance
The Wind-Thunder Martial Hall's foundational cultivation method.
- Consists of thirteen stance movements and cultivates qi and blood into the dantian. 36
- Leads from qi sense through Inner Force, acupoint opening, Internal Force completion, and ultimately Bright Force. 36
- Zhou Ye senses qi after five days, then breaks through without failure after fifty-five days of cultivation. 40 49
- His panel limits cultivation to roughly two hours daily; after entering Force, his martial-skill training limit rises to three hours. 36 46
Third-Rate Martial Arts
- Ten Military Saber Forms — A saber art obtained from a corrupt minor officer's belongings. Zhou Ye merges his maxed Basic Chopping into it after initiation. 6 28
- Wild Bull Body Tempering Method — A body-tempering method purchased from the county bookstore; initially unusable until his attributes meet its requirements. 23 28
- Cloud-Leaping Ladder — A movement technique that favors climbing and descending; becomes Proficient after incorporating Basic Movement. 23 41
- Trace-Hiding Breath-Concealment Art — Purchased from Du Juan alongside another weapon-type martial skill manual. 50
Combat Ability
Zhou Ye combines preparation, mobility, ranged attacks, poison, and close-quarters defense.
- Defeats a wolf pack through archery, throwing spears, a waist saber, shield work, and endurance. 26 27
- Kills three martial-artist thieves during the prefectural-city upheaval, beginning with a point-blank bow ambush and finishing through saber-and-shield combat. 43 44
- Uses real combat to adapt to opponents' weapon styles and refine his techniques under pressure. 44
- His poor bone aptitude slows his cultivation, though his panel removes ordinary breakthrough failure and lets him compensate through accumulated training. 34 49
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Fish-Scale Shield — Crafted from a scale shed by a fish demon; resistant to both saber strikes and fire, lighter than his former round shield, and undamaged by a Force-stage thief's attacks. 23 27 43
- Eight-stone heavy bow — Purchased from Smith Sun; used alongside iron arrows for long-range hunting and defense. 31 33 43
- Throwing spears and knives — Used for hunting, skill training, and combat; some spears are venom-coated. 16 26
- Thick-backed saber — Taken after the battle with the thieves and retained as an equipment upgrade. 46
- Steel crossbows, chainmail, and Black Flood Dragon Spear — Looted from the thieves and concealed at Little Homestead. 44 46
- Ten Military Saber Forms manual — Found in the Old Camp and later cultivated as his primary saber art. 6 28
- Pharmacopoeia Compendium — Purchased for twenty-two taels to advance his poison knowledge. 22 23

- His body began with Bone Structure -3, which Wind-Thunder Martial Hall considered extremely poor martial aptitude. 1 34
