History
First manifestation
During a thunderstorm, Wu Yu saw the Bronze Tower suspended above River City while the surrounding crowd failed to notice it. A Bronze Token subsequently transported him to an ancient stairway above a sea of clouds and through the Tower’s bronze gate. 1
Its interior initially appeared as a bright chamber furnished with stone tables and chairs. Simply sitting within it restored Wu Yu’s prior illnesses and physical condition. 1
Public emergence and Dusk City
The Tower later began appearing visibly above the clouds to Tower Climbers across River City. Following its public revelation, climbers openly traded cards and materials from different Great Ruins worlds. 66 136 137
The Tower became bound to the special Great Ruins Dusk City after its Omen appeared. Wu Yu’s Legendary Bronze Token could no longer be changed or upgraded, and he was restricted to Dusk City until the Twilight Witch disappeared. The Tower warned that Dusk City would fully descend upon reality after one hundred Omens. 148
After Dusk City vanished permanently, the lock was removed and Wu Yu’s token advanced to Silver rank. 239
Functions
Summons and Tower space
- The Tower issues a recognizable summons before an expedition, drawing climbers to its stairway above the sea of clouds. 66 277 590
- Climbers enter through an ancient bronze gate into a shared Tower chamber. One observed chamber held nine seats for the expedition group. 1 44
- Each climber possesses an individual status panel that cannot be viewed by others. 2
- Tower Rest restores a climber’s condition once upon entering and once upon returning from a Great Ruins world. 1 67
- External investigators found that time spent inside appeared to pass as a single instant in the real world; extracted memories and souls did not contain usable information about the Tower’s interior. 56
Great Ruins expeditions
The Tower sends climbers into Great Ruins worlds, supplying information through their Tower Tokens.
- Tokens provide maps, evacuation-point data, world notices, and special-event warnings. 3 69 123
- The Newcomer Secret Realm is a cooperative introductory instance with reduced difficulty, increased rewards, and multiple evacuation points. 3
- Token rank determines the tier of the Great Ruins world entered; a Bronze Token led to the Bronze-tier Strange God Martial Realm, while a Silver Token grants entry to Silver-tier worlds. 69 239
- A world may exceed a climber’s token rank, prompting an explicit warning from the Tower. 123
- Great Ruins worlds can have hostile rules, multiple extraordinary systems, and dangers severe enough that survival is not guaranteed. 197
Settlement system
After evacuation, the Tower evaluates climbers and grants rewards.
- Evaluations can improve through survival, monster kills, boss kills, hidden missions, and hidden achievements. 118
- The Tower awards Great Ruins Source Points, cards, equipment, cultivation methods, titles, and reward-selection opportunities. 118 179 240
- Higher ratings substantially improve reward quality. Wu Yu’s Mythic settlement presented 21 rewards—seven crimson and fourteen gold—from which he could claim 11. 239 240
- The Tower can recognize hidden titles, such as Wu Yu’s equipped Godslayer title. 148 179
- Items not recognized by the Tower may be barred from being brought back; Wu Yu’s Dawn Spear did not appear in his inventory after returning. 240
Token System
Wu Yu’s documented token progression
| Token | Chapter | Documented effects |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze Token (Legendary) | 67 | Bound to Wu Yu; increases base Great Ruins Source Points by 100%, grants one additional reward option and one additional claim attempt. 67 |
| Locked Bronze Token (Legendary) | 148 | Bound to Dusk City; could not be changed or upgraded while the Twilight Witch remained. 148 |
| Silver Token (Legendary) | 239 | Obtained after Dusk City vanished; increases base Great Ruins Source Points by 150%, retains extra reward-option and claim-attempt effects, and grants access to Silver-tier Great Ruins worlds. 239 |
Internal Facilities
| Facility | Function |
|---|---|
| Combat Arena / Martial Training Platform | Provides a place for combat practice and later received the Ability Training function. 118 179 182 |
| Cultivation Room | Allows climbers to cultivate with Tower resources; its costs rise as a climber’s realm advances. 118 119 240 |
| Dao Comprehension / Enlightenment Room | Used to improve techniques and seek enlightenment, though progress can fail when the climber lacks sufficient strength or resources. 118 182 |
Influence on Society
- The Tower’s public exposure created an open market for cards, spirit stones, magical items, cultivation resources, and equipment from myriad worlds. 136 137
- Major corporations began recruiting Tower Climbers and competing for their resources after recognizing the Tower’s importance. 186
- The danger is severe: among 7,540 known River City entrants, only a little over 3,100 were reported to remain at one point. 197
- The Tower’s origin remains unknown. Proposed explanations include a higher-dimensional civilization or the work of immortals and sages, but humanity has not uncovered any confirmed secret about it. 198
