In the office, Rosiana held a slim Sony laptop and enthusiastically suggested it to Wang Ye.

Facebook?

Wang Ye froze for a moment. Wasn't that the website he had invested in?

On the first day of the semester, when he had returned to campus for classes, he had impulsively gone back to the dormitory. His roommate Sergei had put together a rudimentary website with a pretty good concept, one quite similar to the Facebook of the "future."

Wang Ye had casually invested some money—not much, just one million US dollars—and let Sergei do as he pleased.

It had only been a little over two months. Had Sergei really made such a big splash already?

Smiling, he leaned over to glance at Rosiana's laptop screen. Sure enough, it was the very name he had come up with—"FACE BOOK"!

Only now, the site's interface was far prettier than before, and its content was much richer as well.

It seemed Sergei had not wasted the money Wang Ye had given him. He had spent every bit of it where it mattered!

The website was essentially an improved version of the blogs popular at the time. Simply put, it focused on short posts accompanied by pictures.

Anyone could register an account, say a few words, and post one or several photos.

It was far simpler than those long-form blogs, and with both text and images, it was extremely popular among young people.

At the time, although most phones either lacked cameras or took terrible photos, digital cameras had already
