A Generous New Party Leader

So once Zhirinov retired, there was no need to debate who would succeed him as party leader.

Mikhail could simply take office directly.

And there would be no objections within the faction.

After all, everyone understood that the position of faction leader was hardly a cushy job, nor was it a seat just anyone could occupy.

If your personal abilities were lacking and your influence insufficient,

then sitting in that position would be sheer torment!

As faction leader, if you had no voice in the Duma, if the other factions refused to entertain any proposals you put forward or show you any respect,

if you could not secure benefits for the other members of the faction, or even settle the conflicts among the various little cliques within it,

then what was the point of being party leader?

At the mention of a successor, someone spoke up.

A member seated beside Wang Ye immediately said with a smile:

"I nominate Congressman Mikhail!

Everyone knows that Congressman Mikhail is exceptionally capable and has broad influence in the Duma. He is also an outstanding businessman.

He has excellent relations with Speaker Gryzlov and even the Kremlin.

I believe that once Congressman Mikhail succeeds as party leader, he will surely lead our faction to greater and greater success!"

After saying that, he looked at Wang Ye ingratiatingly.

With someone taking the lead, the conference room immediately erupted. The other members began speaking up as well.

"I agree! It has to be Congressman Mikhail. I have no objections if he takes the position; no one else is qualified enough."

"Indeed, Mikhail is absolutely the most suitable candidate. There's nothing more to say."

"I support Congressman Mikhail!"...

Everyone spoke over one another, all voicing support for Wang Ye. Not a single person raised any objection.
