Heaven-Sent Reinforcements

The safe room's doors and walls were difficult to breach, and there was enough water and food inside.

It seemed they could stay in there for ten days or half a month without any problem, leaving the pirates outside helpless.

But even the toughest "turtle shell" could be cracked.

The safe room had a weak point: its ventilation ducts...

The people inside had to breathe. Airflow through gaps around the door was far from enough, and for security reasons, there were not even any windows, so dedicated ventilation ducts had been installed.

Although the ducts had been specially designed and were too narrow for anyone to crawl through.

The pirates had their own methods.

"Go find some cables. Smoke the people inside out!"

At the pirate leader's command, several pirates immediately got to work.

Before long, they dragged over several rubber-coated cables, lit a fire, and set the rubber insulation ablaze.

They piled the burning cables beside the safe room's ventilation duct and desperately fanned the smoke inside...

Thick black smoke began pouring into the safe room through the vent.

Inside the safe room, the bearded captain and several dozen crew members were crammed together.

They looked calm on the surface, but they were terrified inside. After all, a gang of vicious pirates was waiting outside!

If they truly fell into those people's hands, no one knew what might happen...

When they first heard the pounding on the door, no one was particularly worried. They all knew the safe room's door would not be easy to break down.

Sure enough, after the banging continued for a while, it stopped.

"See? There's no need to worry. As long as we hold out for a few more hours and don't go outside, our navy fleet will arrive," the bearded captain encouraged
