Hearing Khovchenko's question, Wang Ye froze for a moment.
He had not expected Khovchenko to ask so directly...
After hesitating for a moment, he finally replied, "It's still too early to say what will happen six years from now. But I probably won't run..."
He glanced at Khovchenko, who was still staring at him, clearly dissatisfied with that answer.
Wang Ye gave a wry smile and continued, "Uncle, it's not like you don't know about my other identity. How could I possibly take part in an election?"
Khovchenko shook his head. "What other identity? You have only one identity now: Mikhail! You are my, Khovchenko's, biological nephew; the Romanov family's son-in-law; Grand Duchess Rosiana's fiancé; the leader of the Duma's second-largest faction; and the Duma's deputy speaker!"
After rattling off such a long string of titles in one breath, Khovchenko had to pause and catch his breath. And even then, there were still many titles of Wang Ye's that he had not mentioned...
But Wang Ye understood what he meant.
The issue of his identity had, in fact, been completely resolved the moment he became engaged to Rosiana.
Unless the Kremlin, the Patriarch, and the Romanov family were willing to slap themselves in the face—or all lost their power and reputation—they had guaranteed the authenticity of Wang Ye's identity.
If anyone dared question Wang Ye's identity, they would first be making enemies of the Kremlin, the Patriarch, and the others!
Wang Ye would not even need to explain himself. Putin would step in and deal with... the person who raised the question...
The key was that Wang Ye himself had yet to get past that psychological barrier!
He had always felt that he was not a "real" Russian, merely an impostor. So he had never seriously considered what came next.
