| Occupation/Role | Student; Jiang Yubai's former deskmate and friend |
| First Appearance | Chapter 5 |
Background / History
Li Yang was initially seated beside Jiang Yubai. He regularly relied on Jiang's math papers to complete his own homework, calling Jiang “Brother Jiang” and jokingly declaring him his “second father.” Despite claiming loyalty, he copied from several of Jiang's papers because he believed more of Jiang's answers were correct 5.
When Jiang was moved to the front row beside Lin Tingwan, Li Yang theatrically wished his former deskmate well “on the front lines,” lamenting that he would be left behind 6. He later continued eating with Jiang and acted as an informal source of school gossip, especially concerning rumors about Jiang's supposed relationships 11 12 23.
After Jiang's move made copying from him inconvenient, Li Yang began borrowing work from Wang Jianglong instead. Jiang caught him using the school’s study-group arrangement as a “copy-each-other's-work group” 48.
Personality
Li Yang is friendly, expressive, and highly informal around Jiang Yubai, whom he consistently addresses as “Brother Jiang.” He exaggerates his loyalty for comedic effect while openly copying homework and seeking academic shortcuts 5 6.
He is also notably gullible toward campus gossip. He repeatedly accepts rumors about Jiang and reports them as though they are credible, even after Jiang denies them. However, he readily stops pressing a subject when Jiang tells him to drop it 11 23 49.
- Calls himself Jiang Yubai's “brother” and makes exaggerated declarations of loyalty 5.
- Is nervous about being caught copying homework by Zhang Shufang 5 48.
- Freely comments on classmates’ relationships and romantic rumors 11 23 49.
- Prefers “passionate, cheerful, uninhibited older women,” ideally three or four years older than himself 11.
Relationships
- Jiang Yubai — Former deskmate and close school friend. Li Yang copies Jiang's math work, shares rumors with him, and habitually calls him “Brother Jiang” 5 6 11.
- Lin Tingwan — A classmate Li Yang describes as distant from others; he warns Jiang that trying to befriend her is likely futile because she rarely responds to anyone 12.
- Wang Jianglong — Li Yang's later homework source after Jiang's front-row seat makes copying from him inconvenient 48.
- Zhao Yun — Li Yang believes Zhao Yun may be interested in Jiang due to her frequent requests for academic help, though Jiang dismisses the implication 11.

After the Desk Incident
Following Jiang's confrontation with Dong Chengze, Li Yang is surprised that Jiang receives only five laps around the track. He waits nearby for Jiang to return and asks what punishment Zhang Shufang assigned 28.
