Background

Qian Daoliu is Qian Xunye's father and Qian Renxue's grandfather. He admits that he neglected and treated Xunye coldly because Xunye awakened the Dark Angel Martial Soul rather than the Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul, while favoring Xunye's younger brother, Qian Xunji 82.

After Qian Xunye publicly kills Bibi Dong, Qian Daoliu intervenes with overwhelming Angel Power. Enraged by the death of his daughter-in-law, he severely injures Xunye with a palm strike, but does not kill him when the six worshippers plead for mercy. Instead, he orders Xunye confined in the Hall of Consecration 6 7.

Qian Daoliu repeatedly attempts to control Xunye's movements and bring him back into Spirit Hall, including offering him an elder's position and later the position of Pope. Xunye rejects these offers, arguing that Daoliu never truly accepted him as a member of the Six-Winged Angel Clan 25 82.

When Xunye returns to Spirit City after years away, Qian Daoliu assembles all of Spirit Hall's Titled Douluo to force him to disband or merge the Night Temple into Spirit Hall. The confrontation escalates into a battle in which Xunye defeats the six worshippers and then defeats Daoliu himself after a prolonged father-son duel 82 88 92.

Following his recovery, Qian Daoliu allows Xunye to enter and leave the Pope's Palace freely and permits the Night Temple to exist, provided it does not threaten Spirit Hall. He later escorts Qian Renxue to receive the Angel God's Nine Trials, but cannot persuade Xunye to participate 93 94.

During Di Tian's assault on Spirit City, Qian Daoliu challenges the Beast God alone to delay the soul beast army until Xunye returns. He is decisively outmatched and badly injured, but continues fighting to protect Spirit City and create an opportunity for Qian Renxue to escape 110 111 112.

Personality

Qian Daoliu is authoritarian and deeply attached to Spirit Hall's hierarchy. He considers it his right and duty to direct Qian Xunye's life, repeatedly attempting to force him to remain in Spirit City despite Xunye's resistance 25 60 82.

His hostility toward Xunye is rooted in prejudice against the Dark Angel Martial Soul, which he eventually acknowledges and regrets. Even after recognizing his failures, however, he initially continues to frame reconciliation as obedience to his authority 82.

Despite his severity, Qian Daoliu prioritizes family in moments of crisis. He spares Xunye after Bibi Dong's death, accepts Xunye's care of Qian Renxue's cultivation, and later risks his life against Di Tian to protect both Spirit City and his granddaughter 7 15 112.

Qian Daoliu arrives too late to prevent Bibi Dong's death. His rage nearly leads him to kill Qian Xunye, but the six worshippers and Qian Renxue's plea cause him to choose confinement instead 6 7.

Conflict with the Night Temple

Unable to accept Xunye's independence, Qian Daoliu repeatedly tries to force him into Spirit Hall's command structure. His attempts to capture Xunye with four Titled Douluo fail, exposing the extent of Xunye's growth 60 61 63.

Battle at the Worship Hall

Qian Daoliu mobilizes Spirit Hall's full Titled Douluo force to stop Xunye from seeing Qian Renxue. After Xunye defeats the assembled worshippers, Daoliu personally fights him with Angel God's borrowed power, but is ultimately defeated and critically injured 82 88 92.

Defense of Spirit City

When Di Tian's soul beast army attacks, Qian Daoliu leads Spirit Hall's defense and duels Di Tian to delay the siege. Outmatched despite his Demigod power, he continues to resist until Qian Xunye arrives and turns the battle 110 111 113.
