Background / History

White World

Ning Rongrong is the daughter of Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect Master Ning Fengzhi and grew up under the protection of Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo. Her rank-nine innate soul power marked her as an uncommon sect talent. 15

She ran away from home and joined Shrek Academy at level 26. Her status as the sect's pampered young mistress initially clashed with the academy's discipline: when Flender assigned her a running punishment, she went shopping instead, lied about it, and openly rebuked him after being exposed. 41

Among the Shrek Seven Monsters, Tang San was the first person for whom she developed romantic feelings. His hidden weapons, strength, and later gift of the Qiluo Tulip turned her interest into admiration, but she suppressed those feelings because of Tang San's attachment to Xiao Wu; in time, they shifted toward familial affection. 2

Tang San's Qiluo Tulip raised her cultivation by six levels and evolved her Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda into the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, removing the limitation that had prevented ordinary sect pagoda masters from advancing beyond Rank 79. 33 43

Black World

During a crisis for the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Ning Rongrong traveled in disguise with Chen Xin. Her poor disguise and repeated glances at Tang Chuan caused her to collide with a waiter at a restaurant, though Tang Chuan used Blue Silver Grass to catch her, the waiter, and every falling dish. 24 29

When Spirit Hall's Tuoba Xuanfeng exposed her identity and demanded custody, she offered herself as a hostage so Tang Chuan and Lan Yin could collect compensation from her family. Chen Xin privately planned to retrieve her after resolving the immediate battle. 30

Her wait for Chen Xin became increasingly distressing, and her isolation from Lan Yin and Xiao Wu caused her to rely heavily on Tang Chuan. The narration identifies this dependence as part of Tang Chuan's calculated plan. 32

Tang Chuan and Lan Yin helped her obtain her first soul ring. She later returned to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, exchanged letters with Tang Chuan, and eventually ran away again to enroll at Spirit Hall Academy through Tang Chuan's connections. 33 36 32

She is also resourceful under pressure. Her hostage proposal to Lan Yin was an improvised attempt to use her family's wealth and Chen Xin's expected rescue to escape a dangerous situation. 30

Her pride is pronounced in both worlds. The White World Ning Rongrong is initially defiant toward Shrek Academy authority, while the Black World Ning Rongrong proudly shows off her evolved martial soul to her father and grandfathers. 41 69
