Background / History

Ying Zheng united the six states and became the sole ruler of the realm, but growing age and the burden of governing made immortality his greatest regret. After hearing of Huang Bai, the Immortal Elder of Penglai, he repeatedly sent envoys to find him and eventually set out to seek him personally. 170

When Huang Bai refused to enter Qin service at the Wu River, Ying Zheng ordered the mountains searched and erected a monument appointing Huang Bai as Qin’s chancellor and immortal elder. Huang Bai did not answer the appointment. 171

Xu Fu later gained the emperor’s confidence by offering a path to immortality. Ying Zheng remained cautious enough to demand that Xu Fu test refined pills first, but apparent rejuvenation and the emergence of Jade Eyes and Square Pupils eventually convinced him that Xu Fu’s methods were genuine. He granted himself the title of “True Man.” 175 176

Xu Fu ultimately attempted to seize Ying Zheng’s body through his possession art. Huang Bai intervened, defeated Xu Fu, and saved the emperor. In the aftermath, Huang Bai revealed that Xu Fu’s pill toxins left Ying Zheng only two or three years to live and that Qin was destined to fall in the second generation. 177 178

In his Qin-era appearance, Ying Zheng is broad and imposing, with a stern face and a profound imperial bearing beneath his robes and twelve-tasseled crown. 171

Ying Zheng is driven by an intense need to overcome mortality. His pursuit of immortality makes him vulnerable to Xu Fu’s manipulation, yet he is not blindly trusting: he monitors pill refinement, tests medicines on Xu Fu first, and reacts decisively once he recognizes the danger of possession. 175 177

He is pragmatic about power. After witnessing Huang Bai and Xu Fu’s battle, he recognizes that imperial authority means little before genuine immortal arts and offers the three immortality pills to Huang Bai rather than insisting on his own prerogative. 178

Even after becoming weary of the throne, he does not abandon ambition. He adapts rapidly to modern weapons, railways, newspapers, factories, and modern armies, concluding that hegemony depends on mastering an era’s tools rather than preserving ancient titles. 183 184

The Liu Bang Identity

After the toxins destroy his original body, Ying Zheng stages his death at Shaqiu and takes Yi Xiaochuan’s body. As “Liu Bang,” he enters Guanzhong, abolishes harsh Qin laws, and uses both Qin experience and modern historical knowledge to establish a new rule. 179

Later Body Seizures

At the Penglai Earth Immortal Kingdom, Ying Zheng chooses Emperor Wu of Han, Liu Che, as a future vessel. Later in the same account, he is identified as Liu Heng, Emperor Wen of Han, after further body seizures; Huang Bai warns him to abandon hegemony and pursue eternal life instead. 182

Ying Zheng refuses to withdraw completely. His continued possessions eventually leave his soul damaged beyond repair, and one account records his final death after he reflects that his path has reached its end. 182

The True Dragon Emperor

Angered by another world’s portrayal of “Ying Zheng” as a tyrannical three-headed Dragon Emperor, he uses Cross-World Incense to confront the impostor. Meng Lie recognizes his imperial bearing, joins his side, and helps defeat the false emperor. 183

All-Xia Federation

After gaining Five Elements powers and the Fountain of Immortality’s longevity, Ying Zheng revives the Terracotta Army, ends the world’s warlord conflicts, and establishes the All-Xia Federation rather than reviving the Qin imperial system. Thirty years later, he assists Huang Bai’s campaign against Shendu. 184 213
