Background
Nick is Frank Castle’s biological son and Alvin’s godson. As a child, he quietly watches over Frank, whose life of war leaves him unsure how to respond to his son’s concern 84. Alvin becomes a central guardian and mentor in Nick’s life, eventually regarding him as a son rather than merely family by association 878.
Nick’s childhood is marked by loss, disability, physical pain, and ridicule. Alvin deliberately refuses to treat him as fragile, instead pushing him toward resilience, family attachment, and a fearless—if often crooked—personal code 1983. His original prosthetic becomes too small as he grows, a problem he hides until Stark discovers it 393.
Stark replaces Nick’s mechanical right leg with a nano-prosthetic. Nick is visibly terrified of the surgery and hospital setting, but Alvin stays with him until he is sedated 881. The replacement limb includes an age-based safety lock, intended to keep its more dangerous functions inaccessible until adulthood 879.
Appearance
By age twenty-two, Nick stands 190 cm tall and has become powerfully built through years of training. His normally teasing smile can give way to a notably solemn expression when family or responsibility is involved 2303.
- Silver nano-prosthetic right leg, designed to become visually identical to his natural leg 882.
- Frequently adopts exaggerated “boss” poses, including slicked-back hair and theatrical entrances 2150.
- Can deploy his prosthetic’s nanomaterials as armor over himself and, at times, over Wild 2156 2257.
Personality
Nick is bold, talkative, mischievous, and unusually comfortable provoking people larger or more dangerous than himself. He teases friends, bluffs confidently, and repeatedly casts himself as a feared underworld boss—even when adults immediately undermine the image he is trying to build 2274.
His bravado masks genuine vulnerability. He becomes anxious before surgery, dislikes hospital beds, and carries the emotional effects of a painful childhood 881 1983. Even so, he remains calm in situations that unsettle other children, including confinement and supernatural attacks 1339 1733.
Nick’s worldview reflects Hell’s Kitchen’s pragmatism. He wants to help people who lack opportunities, particularly errand runners, but often reaches his goals through manipulation, intimidation, or schemes that blur the line between generosity and extortion 1461 2150. He has a basic moral boundary—he insists the Hell Demon Gang should not harm innocent people—but he is also fascinated by appearing dangerous and earning others’ fear 2150 2158.
Abilities & Skills
Nano-Prosthetic Manipulation
Nick’s prosthetic leg is built from nanomaterials and becomes the basis of his combat equipment.
- Forms a full-body nano-armor suit when he enters combat 2156.
- Can transform into a shield capable of blocking a merman’s harpoon strike 1733.
- Can produce a nano-whip to restrain opponents 1733.
- Links directly with mounted weapons, including a Predator shoulder cannon 2172.
- Contains age-gated functions; most functions are later unlocked 879 2045.
Dragon Riding
Nick rides Wild, a Triceratops he treats as both mount and partner.
- Begins with Wild as a young rider and caretaker 393.
- Trains through Professor Zhang’s Knight Training Method to strengthen their connection 1652.
- Uses nano-armor to equip both himself and Wild as a mounted knight 2257.
- Leads cavalry charges while riding Wild during large-scale battles 2258 2305.
Combat and Tactical Leadership
Nick is not physically imposing in his early years, but he compensates with equipment, audacity, and a growing ability to organize others.
- Uses firearms effectively against Sirens and merfolk, including a Remington shotgun 1733.
- Provides battlefield support with a shoulder cannon rather than forcing himself into a front-line role 2046.
- Coordinates a mixed team of armored, invisible, melee, ranged, and support fighters into a coherent unit 2046.
- Rallies Vityaz soldiers during a collapsing battle line and turns their retreat into a last stand 2258.
Reality Ring and Paladin Auras
During the Underworld campaign, Nick gains access to far more powerful supernatural equipment.
- Uses the Reality Ring to manifest armies of oni-demons from imagination 2305 2306.
- Activates a level-twenty Thorns Aura that inflicts tenfold reflected damage on attacking undead 2306.
- Deploys level-twenty Thorns and Fanaticism over allied abominations during a charge 2305.
- Channels Archangel Michael’s power through Yazi armor and a greatsword 2305.
Negotiation and Recruitment
Nick has a talent for turning personal connections into opportunities for others—and for himself.
- Acts as a liaison between Timberwolves players and college coaches, preparing player measurements and scholarship pitches 1888.
- Secures a UCLA opportunity for “Cream” and attempts to recruit “Butter” for Notre Dame 1889.
- Negotiates directly with Coach Sutton over scholarship placements and player recruitment 1892.
- Builds the Hell Demon Gang and Runners Company around employing marginalized runners rather than simply claiming territory through violence 2150 2152.

Nick proposes an errand-runners alliance intended to challenge Las Vegas gambling interests while creating work for marginalized runners. He expands the plan into the Hell Demon Gang and a company supported by Alvin, Frank, Stark, Nate, Richard, Ginny, and Harry 2150 2152.
His first major operation targets the Gray Wolf Gang and Barracuda’s organization. Although he wants dramatic negotiations and a fearsome reputation, the operation is largely controlled by more experienced allies and cleaned up by the FBI 2155 2156 2157.
