Background / History

As Thunder Clan Chief, Lei Ying approves opening the clan’s dangerous inheritance ground for Lei Qi and Lei Dong after their exceptional bloodlines are discovered. He presents the Thunder Realm as both an ancestral inheritance and a deadly trial, warning the two youths to protect themselves during their near-decade of cultivation. 2

When Lei Qi returns with uncontrollable black lightning, Lei Ying immediately injects his Dou Qi into Lei Qi’s body and seals the power. He makes clear that the seal is temporary: Lei Qi must become strong enough to master the lightning or suffer its backlash. 7

Lei Ying initially governs with caution toward the agreements among the ancient clans. He objects to deploying a Five-Star Dou Sheng into the Central Plains and sternly confronts Lei Qi over disregarding inter-clan rules, fearing that reckless conduct could bring disaster upon the Thunder Clan. 87 88
