Failing to defeat a daemonized Primarch had always gnawed at Perturabo. He had defeated the ascended Angron once, but he did not consider that victory pure. If Khorne had not withdrawn his support from Angron, Perturabo believed he would have been the one to lose.
The Iron Bone robots obeyed Perturabo's commands, firing fist-sized shells into Angron's daemonized body. Brass armor blocked some, crimson flesh blocked more, and as more units joined the siege against Angron, the enraged beast began to stagger.
Angron was riddled with wounds. Torn-open gashes spewed black foam, while curled flesh dried hard and stiff. Smoke and ash coated Angron from head to toe, yet he still did not fall beneath the barrage. Instead, he swelled even larger. Though he wrestled with fury and roared in pain, Angron could still tear apart reinforced Iron Bone robots with ease.
If Angron was like this, then what changes had Ferrus undergone? And what of Mortarion, hiding beneath Nurgle's protection? During the Iron Plague War, Perturabo had already witnessed Nurgle's all-pervasive power of corruption. Whether soldiers or warships, anyone who faced the plague legions for long enough would inevitably meet an end in ashes and dust.
Perturabo was curious, and he also wished to make one of his daemonized brothers submit through his own power. It was an entirely new challenge.
With that thought, Perturabo moved through the air. Iron wings carried him spiraling rapidly upward, and beneath the dome's radiance, he cast down a vast shadow of death.
Then he activated every piece of equipment on his power armor. Torrents of searing energy and solid ammunition burned through the space between Perturabo and Ferrus. Enhanced by all manner of electronic systems, Perturabo's command over ballistics was exceptional.
Facing the rain of destruction hurtling toward him, Ferrus showed no
