Background / History

The Art Student was an ordinary man from a peaceful world before transmigrating into the Warhammer universe. Horrified by the battlefield around him, he nevertheless resolved to survive rather than surrender to despair. His presence drew the attention of Warp powers, but he escaped their assault and vanished beyond their ability to locate him. 1 2 3

After being expelled from the Warp, he collided with and absorbed an incomplete Void Dragon fragment. The fragment's memories and authority transformed him into a superhuman capable of manipulating physical laws, while his Anti-Magic Body became a powerful Psychic Null Field. Despite briefly becoming overconfident, he recognized that physical attacks could still kill him and chose caution over open displays of power. 4 5

For roughly ten years, he remained hidden while establishing an underground base, gathering local knowledge through nanomachines, and developing technology with Gaia. When he finally emerged, he rescued Underhive scavengers from a Genestealer, accepted Gray Mark's group as his first followers, and adopted the title “Lord of the Stars.” 8 10 11

He later began a genetic restoration project after discovering that local humans shared less than thirty percent genetic similarity with him. The project produced vaccine-treated “New Humans” with anti-psyker traits and eventually gene-enhanced warriors capable of contending with Imperial Astartes. Its early failures and human experimentation also revealed his increasingly ruthless pragmatism. 16 18

As his forces expanded from the Underhive into the Star Sea Galaxy, he prioritized administration, industrial growth, military training, and technological self-sufficiency over reckless conquest. He eventually became a ruler commanding fleets, Space Marines, a Defense Force, and a population numbering in the billions. 26 70 115

Appearance

Originally an ordinary-looking man, the Art Student becomes a 3.5-meter-tall giant after absorbing C'tan power. His imposing size, armor, and later-developed authority cause followers and officials to treat him as a divine being. 2 6 183

  • Stands approximately 3.5 meters tall. 6
  • Wears Adamantium Power Armor and carries a Power Sword during his early Underhive campaign. 8
  • Uses a cloak capable of concealing stored supplies and equipment. 10
  • Develops an oppressive, commanding presence after years as ruler of the Star Sea Galaxy. 183

Personality

The Art Student is fundamentally survival-driven. His first response to the Warhammer universe is terror, but he quickly accepts that despair is useless and commits himself to living through circumstances that would destroy an ordinary person. 1 2

He is cautious even when empowered. Although he enjoys displays of technological and personal strength, he repeatedly avoids overextending himself, preferring preparation, secrecy, and gradual expansion to impulsive conquest. 4 26 70 187

He is deeply invested in research and invention, drawing satisfaction from solving technical problems and turning ideas into practical weapons, infrastructure, or tools for human development. He also rewards useful suggestions from subordinates rather than assuming his own knowledge is sufficient. 70 104 105

His compassion is selective. He treats his first followers with gentleness, heals their injuries, provides clean water, and seeks to improve ordinary living conditions. Conversely, he treats criminal experimental subjects and hostile forces as disposable resources when they serve his objectives. 9 10 16

“But I'm still weak. I can't get cocky. I need to keep my head down—the bird that sticks out gets shot.” 4

“No. I am not a god. At present, I can only be considered a demigod.” 10

Abilities & Skills

Anti-Magic Body / Psychic Null Field

His innate Anti-Magic Body suppresses supernatural phenomena within its domain. It is especially dangerous to psykers, sorcerers, daemons, and C'tan-derived supernatural abilities. 4

  • Negates psychic powers, sorcery, magic, and similar supernatural abilities within range. 4
  • Can cause backlash against anyone attempting to use such powers inside the field. 4
  • Permanently annihilates beings killed within the field, including their souls. 4
  • Expanded from a localized domain to a 10,000-meter radius after his first Void Dragon absorption. 4
  • Later covers an entire planet, preventing widespread psychic power use. 20
  • Does not negate conventional physical attacks; he can still be injured or killed by sufficient physical force. 5

C'tan Physical Distortion

Through Void Dragon-derived authority, he can manipulate matter and alter physical properties. His control develops from small objects to planetary and stellar-scale construction. 3 4 282

  • Alters material composition, such as transforming a cigarette into a cigar or rocks into steel firearm components. 4 6
  • Repairs and upgrades damaged devices, including his phone. 5
  • Creates weapons, tools, armor components, and specialized technological devices from available matter. 6 172
  • Heals followers by replacing crude prosthetics with flexible nanomechanical equivalents and synthetic skin. 9
  • Transforms meteorites into ship armor, warships, and shipyards. 282 283

Dimensional Manipulation

He possesses a C'tan-controlled dimensional space used for storage, transit, containment, and combat deployment. 10 276

  • Stores supplies and equipment in dimensional space. 10
  • Uses Dimensional Transit to travel between distant locations. 175 276
  • Deploys weapons and the War Star from dimensional storage during combat. 271
  • Imprisons dangerous C'tan fragments within a Dimensional Cube. 276
  • Uses spacetime-annihilation technology to erase a galaxy from realspace and conceal his conflict with C'tan shards. 275 276

Gravity and Planetary Manipulation

His abilities and inventions allow him to exert extreme control over gravity and planetary conditions. 105 106 513

  • Creates gravity fields strong enough to crush attacks and reduce colossal robots to scrap. 270
  • Can alter planetary terrain and temperature to eradicate Genestealer infestations. 513
  • Developed the Planetary Gravity Engine, which can restore a dead planet's gravity or destroy its gravitational magnetic field. 105 106

Genetic Engineering

He combines his own genes with local human genetics to create a population resistant to psychic influence and capable of extreme enhancement. 16

  • Develops vaccines that suppress psychic-related gene fragments. 16
  • Creates New Humans with Anti-Magic Bodies; later descendants are fully insulated from psychic power. 16
  • Produces gene-enhanced Star Space Marines through compatibility screening, enhancement drugs, neural amplifiers, and high-gravity training. 17 18
  • Masters personalized genetic enhancement but reserves it for exceptional individuals rather than distributing it universally. 113

Research and Engineering

The Void Dragon's memories provide him with technological principles and manufacturing methods, though he must still understand and apply the knowledge himself. 5

  • Designs the Ripper Rifle, Spatial-Folding Magazine, Planetary Gravity Engine, Blackstone Obelisk, and numerous other technologies. 6 71 105 534
  • Uses public suggestions and subordinate feedback to improve his research programs. 104
  • Builds industrial infrastructure ranging from 100-meter engineering robots to Gloriana-class Battleship shipyards. 70 283
  • Created a simulated piloting game, Ace Pilot, to identify potential pilots among civilians. 111
