This story is written with a smooth flow, humorous and satisfying. It takes a creative leap by choosing a male lead with bipolar disorder who, after being reborn, believes he is trapped in a dream and thus becomes even more unrestrained and hilarious. The author is committed to seeing the male lead's "chuunibyou" villain path through to the end. Because the self-cultivation of a great villain is to change the world.
Chapter 1
September 13, 2019, the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Two black Maybachs drove through the maple-lined mountain road and slowly stopped in front of a sanatorium halfway up the mountain. The driver in a black suit got out and walked to the other side to open the door. A slender figure leaned out; the late autumn sunset shone on the man's face, the rose-gold afterglow outlining his features to look even more handsome and refined.
The staff standing in front of the villa shouted in unison, "Mr. Cheng."
Cheng Shao nodded slightly, "Thank you all for your hard work."
The lead doctor smiled and said, "It's no trouble, it's what we should do."
Cheng Shao nodded and asked, "How is A-Yu?"
As if the name held some kind of magic, Cheng Shao's cold demeanor softened significantly when he mentioned it, and even his eyes, usually devoid of emotion, revealed a hint of a smile.
The doctor from before sighed slightly, looking a bit troubled.
The doctor looked at Cheng Shao, hesitating to speak.
Cheng Shao's heart sank slightly, and without a word, he brushed past the doctor and the other staff, striding into the sanatorium. Two bodyguards followed closely behind, carrying food boxes, mooncakes, and various snacks.
When Cheng Shao entered the ward, he saw the man bound to a wheelchair by restraints at a glance. The man was exceptionally handsome, wearing the standard white hospital gown of the sanatorium. Even in such a disheveled state, there was still an arrogant and wicked aura in his gaze that could not be ignored. Even while sitting in a wheelchair looking up at others, the slightly upturned corners of his eyes and the ruthlessness revealed in his shifting gaze made people afraid to be disrespectful.
Because of this, the medical staff surrounding the man only dared to keep their distance, ensuring the man wouldn't hurt himself or others during an episode.
Cheng Shao's gaze fell on the man's hands. He saw that the man's originally slender, fair hands were stained with blood; the knuckles where the palms met the fingers were a bloody mess, with drops of blood sliding down his fingertips. Yet, the man seemed not to feel the pain, still playfully fiddling with his fingers.
The medical staff nearby explained nervously, "Young Mr. Cheng won't let us get close, so we haven't been able to bandage him."
Cheng Shao nodded, took the medical kit from a young nurse, and waved his hand, signaling everyone to leave. He carried the medical kit and knelt halfway in front of the man, sighing gently and helplessly, "A-Yu, what are you making a scene about again?"
Cheng Yu sneered, tilting his head playfully, "Guess?"
Cheng Shao sighed silently. There was no need to guess when it was right in front of him. Their A-Yu had been like this since he was a child—valuing family and friends more than anything else, yet born with a stubborn nature and never knowing how to express himself properly. Today was the Mid-Autumn Festival; A-Yu must have been thinking of their parents and grandparents.
The deceased were gone, but this brat was hurting inside and refused to say it, so naturally, he had to put on a show. If it were before, Cheng Yu could have taken it out on outsiders. But now that he was locked in the sanatorium with no outsiders to torment, the brat started tormenting himself.
Cheng Shao took bandages and antiseptic from the medical kit. He was truly impressed by Cheng Yu's ability to cause trouble. To ensure the brat wouldn't get hurt again, Cheng Shao had already had the sanatorium replace the entire ward with padded walls. Yet, Cheng Yu still found ways to get himself covered in wounds under the strict supervision of multiple medical staff.
As Cheng Shao bandaged Cheng Yu's hands, he gently persuaded, "...Grandparents' car accident was an accident, and Mom and Dad's plane crash was also an accident; it wasn't your fault. Don't always make things difficult for yourself and get stuck in a dead end. If you keep torturing yourself like this, you'll never get better."
Cheng Yu kept his head down, staring expressionlessly at his hands as Cheng Shao bandaged them. He knew Cheng Shao's words were right, but he couldn't get past this hurdle in his heart. Every night when he couldn't sleep, he would toss and turn, thinking that perhaps Chen Lingyun was right. He was a jinx, cursed by fate. Otherwise, why did everyone connected to him end up with such a tragic fate?
